Jorge Chavez International Airport (LIM) to Lima
Jorge Chavez now uses the new Morales Duarez terminal, not the old Faucett passenger terminal. To find the AeroDirecto bus after arrivals, follow airport signs to the AeroDirecto boarding area on the new airport's internal circulation road. Accessibility at LIM is unusually well documented. The airport lists Braille signage, tactile guidance paths, electric courtesy carts, family restrooms, priority flows, ramps, alternative elevators, wheelchair and stroller loans, Peruvian sign-language assistance, and Sunflower Lanyard distribution at information modules on its accessibility facilities page. Contact your airline as well if you need end-to-end priority assistance from aircraft door to ground transport.
Phone, data, and money on arrival
Sort out data before the terminal Wi-Fi becomes a plot twist. If you plan to use a travel eSIM, install it before flying and switch it on only when its activation terms say to. Save the hostel address, booking, first route, and one offline map while you still have a known-good connection.
Peru uses the Peruvian sol (PEN). For a physical SIM, keep your passport handy and use the terminal-specific seller details above; registration, stock, opening hours, and cash/card acceptance can differ by shop. For an eSIM, install it before the trip and check the provider's activation-start rule.

Cash, cards, and ATMs

As checked in August 2026, the terminal says it has more than 70 transport companies, more than 150 destinations, Wi-Fi, ATMs, luggage storage, cafeterias, pharmacy, security, cameras, and secure taxi service on its official terminal page.
On arrival, stay inside the controlled terminal and use the direct mall connection for food, ATMs, and a safer pickup point. The terminal advertises secure taxi service; after dark, or after a long intercity ride with your brain at 12 percent battery, that is the practical move to Miraflores, Barranco, or a specific hostel address. UK and Canadian travel advice both flag fake taxi risk around transport terminals, so avoid unsolicited drivers at the curb and use the terminal taxi setup, hotel dispatch, or a reputable app pickup you can match by plate and vehicle through the UK Peru safety advice and Canada Peru travel advice.
No current official Plaza Norte page checked in August 2026 published a route-specific public-bus timetable from the terminal to Miraflores, Barranco, or Lima Centro. The page does confirm 24-hour terminal operation and onsite services, so use the terminal's official service page for the handoff, then verify any onward bus route locally before leaving the controlled terminal area. With unusually large bags, multiple bags, or mobility needs, do not turn this into a sidewalk transfer just to save a small fare.
For payment and cash, Plaza Norte lists ATMs as an available terminal service, but no operator-specific ATM fees, exchange-desk hours, or dynamic currency conversion outcome were published on the terminal page checked in August 2026. Carry small soles from the bus ride or use the terminal ATM screen as the live source for fees and conversion before accepting a withdrawal. Terminal Terrestre Atocongo Bus Terminal to Lima
Terminal Terrestre Atocongo sits by Mall del Sur at Panamericana Sur Km 11.3 in San Juan de Miraflores. Cruz del Sur Lima Terminal Javier Prado is a private coach station at Av. Javier Prado Este 1109. As checked in August 2026, Cruz del Sur publishes counter hours Monday-Sunday 03:00-23:45 on its Lima terminal page. Treat it as a Cruz del Sur gateway, not a generic terminal for every bus company in Lima.
For a formal bus route toward Miraflores or Barranco, use the Javier Prado corridor. As checked in August 2026, Corredor Rojo routes 201, 206, and 209 serve Javier Prado with a general fare of S/2.43 and normal hours Monday-Saturday 05:00-23:00 and Sunday 05:00-22:30 on the 201 route page and 206 route page. Ride westbound to the Javier Prado/Arequipa transfer area, using stops such as Petit Thouars/Arenales for the Arequipa Avenue handoff, then connect to Corredor Azul 301 toward Miraflores or Barranco on the 301 route page.
Payment matters here. ATU's 2026 fare note says the Red-Blue integrated fare is S/3.60 and requires Metropolitano or Lima Pass card validation within 2 hours on its integrated-fare notice. Do not expect a normal rail-station taxi counter, bus interchange, or self-service arrival system there; arrange the pickup to Jr. Ancash 207.
Walking is only a daylight option for accommodation very close to Plaza Mayor or Jiron de la Union. It is not a Miraflores or Barranco walking route, and it is not the move after dark or during demonstrations. For taxi fallback, use Cabify, Uber, or a hostel-arranged driver rather than a street hail. Cabify publishes Lima service with card and cash paths on its Lima fares page, Uber says rides can be requested in Lima 24/7 on its Lima city page, and Canada warns licensed taxis are not metered, so confirm the fare before the ride and carry small soles if paying cash through the Canada Peru travel advice.
No current public Desamparados source checked in August 2026 published station exchange desks, ATMs, SIM sellers, Wi-Fi, taxi-counter hours, or step-free arrival paths. The useful live-data check is FCCA itself, not generic train timetable sites, because departures and ticket sales can change with route and weather conditions; use FCCA's passenger terms before building a Lima arrival around this train.
For a first night, choose the handoff by where you are actually sleeping. Miraflores and Barranco are easiest from LIM on Airport Express Lima, especially around Parque Kennedy; central Lima matches AeroDirecto Centro around Plaza San Martin. From Plaza Norte, Atocongo, or Javier Prado after dark, use the terminal's registered taxi, authorized pickup, or a reputable ride-hail to your exact hostel address; the public options exist, but card setup, stop finding, and night transfers are the tax.
