Breakfast is a bit underwhelming if you don't eat pork. The dorms get quite cold at night

Had a wonderful time !! Really close to the main street of Hondae great location. Also had a area where I could meet up with other people. Drinks were really affordable and the workers were mega cool. They have a new anti bedbug bed so that was also nice. Definitely gonna revisit on my next trip !!

Length of stay November 5 - November 23, 2024 4 Person Dormitory, December 5 - December 13, 2024 8 Person Dormitory Overall rating 4/5 This hostel was the favorite one out of all hostels I have stayed in Korea. There were so many events here like weekly live band events, karaoke events, and free barbecues. I have stayed many hostels around 40 countries trips. From my experience, this hostel seems to know exactly what a hostel is and how to run it. The atmosphere in the pub lounge on the ground floor, where these events are held, is always great. This building looked sort of old, but was well maintained. All essential items are installed in the cube bed. All the bedding is laundered. The location is super good. 5-minute walk from the metro station, 10-minute walk from main street of Hongdae area. The host was so kind and nice for me and all guests. Pros: Location, pub lounge, atmosphere, lots of events, comfortable beds, cleanliness of bedding. Cons: Old building. Location and accessibility. 4.5/5 This hostel is located in the Hongdae area, the most tourists area in Seoul. It takes 5 minutes from this hostel to Hapjeong Station where is in Line 2 and Line 6. You can go to another hotspot for tourists called Itaewon by Line 6. It's 10-minute walk from the hostel to the center of Hongdae area, and 10-minute walk to the Mangwon Market (personally, I much prefer the local Mangwon Market to the touristy Gwangjang Market). 3-minute walk away is a large supermarket like Walmart and a shopping mall called Messenapolis. Hostel hosts 5/5 Personally, I prefer hostels where the hosts work for their own hostel and enjoy talking to guests. The host at this hostel is one of the most unique hosts I have met. I could see him at the reception all the time. He loved to talk with guests. He was very friendly, but was very firm with guests who cause problems during my stay. I heard that there were bedbug problems this June and this problem is the first one that has occurred since this hostel was opened 10 years ago. He said he has developed a heat bed that kills bedbug, which will be installed in next February. We talked about many topics, It was very good time. If you see him in the lounge on the first floor, try to talk with him. Facilities 4/5 As you'd expect from a 10-year-old hostel, it's sort of old. There are frequent breakdowns here and there. Especially I think the showers looks old. But the cleanliness was good. In particular, the beds in this hostel are about 30% bigger than the capsule I stayed in Japan, and they have lockers, hangers, and mirrors. Not only are the beds large, but the rooms are also spacious. The mattresses are foam and very thick and comfortable. The bedding is all washed, and the host runs a laundromat for the hostel. In other words, the building is old, but the cleaning and hygiene are very good. Breakfast 3/5 Breakfast is a decent selection. There's seaweed soup and rice for vegans, hot dogs and cereal, and cappuccino and green tea. Don't expect much. However, the free barbecue on Sundays is very good and can make up for the lack of breakfast. In any case, breakfast is something I wish the hosts would take care of more. Atmosphere 5/5 This is why I chose this hostel. The pub-lounge area on the ground floor is a great place to meet fellow travelers. You can order cocktails and beer for a reasonable price. The staffs actioned for guests' needs. You can also bring in food from outside and have it cooked for you. In particular, three events are organized for free: karaoke on Tuesdays and Korean barbecue on Mondays. On Fridays, you can also listen to live music from the host's band. Service 5/5 When you check in, you're given a map of your room, which makes it easy to get to know the hostel's services. You can also get a free drink if you follow them on Instagram. The staffs are very friendly and work late. Luggage storage is available if you arrive early, but early check-in is not available.

As much as I want to leave a positive review as the staff was very kind and accommodating to me, I must leave a lower review as I was attacked by bed bugs during my stay. My legs were covered with bites, but more significantly so was my face. I had many large red welts from the bites that even made me want to stay in and not go out on New Years Eve. They switched me beds several times to accommodate me but I still got attacked by the bedbugs. Welp.Just being honest to give others a heads up!

Terrible! When I arrived at the hostel, I ran out immediately—it was very dirty and truly depressing. BED BUGS sure! black spots (bed bug feces) in multiple areas, especially under the mattress. If you're expecting cleanliness, this is not the place. As for the atmosphere, I arrived on a Saturday night, and there was no vibe at all.

The hostel was nice in itself but unfortunately after 2 days I found a bedbug in my bed. The staff responded quickly to wash my clothes and they offered us a private room for the remaining of our stay

I got bedbugs here. The owner tried to blame it on me, saying that I got them in my previous stop in Japan (I had stayed with a friend in a private residence - I didn't get them there). Then they sprayed me with disinfectant while screaming at me while I tried to pack up my capsule. They were rude, entitled, delusional, didn't give me a full refund, and tried to double charge me until I came back and yelled at them about it. Oh, and the owner admitted they regularly get bedbugs. I want to warn future guests about this hostel. When I stayed here, there were bedbugs everywhere – all over my bed and even inside the walls. The worst part? The owner knew about it and still rented out the room to four people. The bedbugs were fully grown, meaning they had been there for a long time, and the owner admitted he was aware of the infestation. I believe this isn’t an isolated case, as he canceled our reservation right after we confronted him, seemingly to prevent us from leaving a negative review or reporting the issue. To me, this shows he knew exactly what he was doing. As someone who is quite familiar with bedbugs, I can confidently say that the severity of this infestation suggests it had been there for months. To properly eliminate this level of infestation, the bunk bed itself would need to be removed. However, instead of addressing it appropriately, the owner just used a generic insect spray, which is not effective for bedbugs, especially the more resilient type commonly found in South Korea. I arrived late at night and didn’t check the room in detail. The next morning, I found bedbugs in my suitcase, and I woke up with bites all over my body and face. I had an allergic reaction to the bites and had to wash my clothes multiple times at my own expense to avoid carrying the bedbugs to my next accommodation. This one night at the hostel completely ruined my trip to South Korea. Don’t make the same mistake!

They have bed bugs, stay away!

  10. Confirmed Hostelworld

Great place and atmosphere. Unfortunately I found a bedbug during my stay and although the staff helped to wash my things, I was blamed and told to find somewhere else to stay for the night (11pm) as they had no space. This was pretty disappointing as I could’ve been offered to stay in the common area, etc. Apart from that if you aren’t unlucky like me it’s a really nice hostel.

Bugs, bugs, bugs coming out of the bed! Bedbugs are disgusting and suck your blood. You should never stay there.

  12. Confirmed Booking.com

Place is infected with bedbugs. I found and killed one in my bed. Then had multiple bites on my body and had to wash all my cothes before going to another place. Also, you have to know is that this is a party hostel with a pub located downstairs. You have people sitting there all day till late hours, drinking and having fun. Then they come back to dorms talking, making noise and some of them visibly drunk. I could not really sleep during my stay there, being able to get sleep only for a few hours in the morning. Some guests seem like permanent fixture of this place, acting as if they live there. No respect for other people. Dorms are huge with 10+ beds which means you have minimal chances of sleeping as they keep talking with no regard to other people. If your goal of going to Seoul is to drink and have fun, choose this place, if you want to sleep at night go somewhere else. If you are +25 and more into actually spending days travelling and visiting places, this is not the place for you. Its mostly for laid back, young backpackers who are more into parties, drinking and having sex.
