for a backpacker and longer stay, it is very good, staff are helpful to my group. the comfort room is a bit small but good enough, neatly daily cleaned. it is good that there is a daily breakfast, it may be good if there will be variation, meaning every other day is another menu for breakfast. although i have not experience bed bugs, it would be nice it regular disinfection and cleaning will be done, not only change the bedsheets, but sanitizing the beds or just simply having it under the sun,. overall it is quite good and budget friendly especially if you would spend more days in Danang City.

Location is superb. Breakfast is free. Staff are mostly warm and friendly. Price is very low. Bed bugs have to be totally removed. Please consider doing a scheduled room/dorm closure for fumigation if you want to treat the problems without fully stopping your operations.

I would not recommend this hostel. The hostel is completely closed until 7:30 a.m., making it inaccessible during the night and early morning. We tried knocking and ringing the bell several times, but no one answered. This created a very uncomfortable and stressful situation. During the night, it was extremely difficult to sleep because of bed bugs. What is worse is that the staff does not even seem to try to solve the problem. In my room, two people asked to change beds because of bed bugs, but shortly after, two other guests were assigned to the exact same beds without any apparent cleaning or treatment. The breakfast was terrible. We were served two fried eggs cooked in what was probably very old oil, making them almost inedible. Additionally, the receptionists spoke very little English, which made communication difficult. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience.

I am writing this review to share my experience in an objective and factual manner. First, the information stating that the reception operates 24 hours is inaccurate. During my stay, the doors were locked overnight until approximately 7:30 AM, which may create inconvenience or safety concerns for guests who need access during those hours. The most serious issue was the presence of bed bugs. Upon arrival, we met two guests who informed us they had changed beds after finding multiple bed bugs. Despite this, new guests continued to be assigned to the same beds. Later that night, I personally observed bed bugs on my mattress. The only action taken by staff was changing the bed sheets, without relocating me to a different room or implementing any visible pest control measures. Changing sheets does not resolve a bed bug infestation. The following morning, I had more than 30 bites across my body, resulting in significant discomfort. Additionally, the breakfast provided was extremely limited, consisting of one piece of bread and one fried egg. The egg appeared to be cooked in old oil, with a strong taste and excessive grease. The overall hygiene standards were poor. The bathrooms were very small and had only cold water. The surrounding area also had visible rats in the street. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this property. I strongly encourage management to address these issues to ensure basic health, hygiene, and transparency standards for future guests.

‼️BED BUGS‼️ Stay here if you want bed bugs…massive infestation that has clearly been there for months looking at other reviews. The staff 100% know and just don’t care. Booked through Hostelworld, no reviews of bed bugs. Found out why…they cancel your booking before you can leave a review which is extremely dishonest. They only refunded after asking multiple times and tried to short-change me. Not only this, the general cleanliness of this hostel is very poor. This place needs serious help.

You must be braindead to leave good reviews for a bedbug-infested place!!! Dorms 2 and 3 are completely infested. According to other reviews, this has been an ongoing problem for a long time. It will not go away unless they shut the place down for a week and hire proper disinfection team—but they won’t. Because night-shift management lives in the kitchen and has nowhere else to go. One-time bed disinfection only works short term; I know this from five years of traveling. Cherry on top: the toilets are filthy and have never been cleaned with chemicals since the hostel opened. Common areas are also dirty—typical for Vietnam, they just sweeping the floors, wet cleaning is only once in 3 days.

The stay was very uncomfortable. The bed had bed bugs—I killed several myself and ended up covered in bites. Mosquitoes were everywhere, including dorms and washrooms. The bathrooms were cramped and difficult to use. AC was inconsistent, turned on late at night and switched off too early in the morning, leaving the room hot. No free drinking water was available either. Overall, hygiene and basic facilities were lacking.

The biggest issue: The bed was full of bed bugs. I killed around 10 bugs myself and was bitten all over my body. I have red marks, my skin is itchy, and it's extremely uncomfortable. When informed the staff about the bed bugs, they simply said it's not their fault that travelers bring the bugs with them. I found this response very irresponsible. Whether travelers bring them or not, it's the hostel's duty to maintain hygiene and take accountability. There are a lot of mosquitoes in the dorms, washrooms, and common areas. The washrooms and toilets are extremely small and cramped. It's genuinely uncomfortable to use them. The AC is only turned on at night, and even then, not on time. It was supposed to be turned on at 8:30 PM, but they actually turned it on at 9:00 PM. In the morning, they turned it off around 6:15-6:30 AM, which made the room very hot again. When went to the reception to ask for help, there was no one there. No staff was available to assist or turn on the AC again, even though it was extremely uncomfortable in the room No free drinking water is provided, which is a basic facility most hostels offer. The staff was not rude, but definitely not courteous either. They were indifferent and unhelpful in most situations.

the hostel would be nice, but! bedbugs! I found bedbugs in my bed. after contacting the staff, I was offered to change the bed to another, but there were bedbugs in the other bed too. you need to call special services to destroy the parasites, but the hostel apparently does not take any action because of a desire to save money. Unfortunately got bed bugs here. The staff refunded my payment for the night (only 1 night out of 3), and I saw them getting rid of the mattress. They seemed to be taking quick action. Nobody else in my dorm seemed to be affected thankfully (bed 205). I feel bad writing this because they seemed very kind but I do want to be honest for other travelers. Otherwise, WiFi was strong, free breakfast is nice, and it's a quick walk to dragon bridge and the night market. Privacy curtains on the beds!

Vibe Analysis
Kon-Tiki DaNang Hostel has one big thing going for it: location. It sits close to Dragon Bridge, the night-market zone, food, convenience stores, and walkable city sights, and it can be cheap for a bed with a basic included breakfast. The better version includes friendly staff, lockers, balconies/roof space, and spacious dorms/private rooms. The problems are heavy, especially bed bugs and cleanliness. This does not read like a fun Da Nang backpacker base right now; it reads like a location-first, low-cost gamble where the bathrooms are tiny, the breakfast is simple, and the social atmosphere is weak. Only consider it if the bridge location matters more than comfort and you are ready to bail if the room is not clean.
Signals to check
- Recent bed-bug complaints are repeated and explicit.
- Bathrooms and rooms are often described as dirty, humid, cramped, or smelly.
- Breakfast, AC, stairs, and social vibe are very basic.
