Bed bug reports

Staff, bedbugs, no help. Very unhelpful and impersonal. I used to work at hostels in MX. Much cheaper and much better. Please stay at a hotel

The bed had bedbugs or some kind of insect. I woke up with bites on different parts of my body that I didn't have before I went to sleep in that bed.

Vibe Analysis
The rooftop terrace is the main hangout: a relaxed upstairs spot for sitting out, working remotely, eating, or meeting someone without needing a party-hostel machine. It seems more low-key than wild, with occasional easy social moments rather than organized chaos. The location does a lot of the heavy lifting. The hostel sits near the beach, Calle Loiza food spots, cafes, bars, a grocery store, bus stops for Old San Juan and the airport, and walkable links toward Condado, Ocean Park, and La Placita. Self check-in may work smoothly for late arrivals, and door codes plus lockers add a practical security layer. Rooms and facilities are basic. Cleanliness can be solid, staff can be warm and helpful, and private rooms may have useful extras like a fridge or sink. The tradeoff is that dorm beds may lack curtains, shelves, lights, or outlets, bathrooms are limited, and the social energy can feel thin for a solo traveler hunting for instant crew formation.
Signals to check
- Bathroom capacity is tight, with toilet and shower access often tied to a single room bathroom.
- Staff presence and tone can be inconsistent, especially outside daytime reception hours.
- Dorm comfort is basic: beds may lack curtains, individual lights, shelves, or nearby outlets.
- Deposit refunds, towel fees, luggage storage, and ID/card handling may need extra attention before booking.
- Cleanliness is uneven, with rare but serious problems around bedding or insects.
