Barco Verde Hostel

We rented a private room as we were a group of 4. The checkin went very well. We noticed that the bunk beds were very shaky and moved a lot but thought it was ok for 2 nights… When we came back to our room after dinner, we saw a bedbug climbing on the mattress!!! We checked all the beds in the room and we didn’t find anything but we spoke straightaway to the staff. They offered us to switch room which we obviously accepted as we could not take the risk to stay in the room. But in the second room, we also found bedbugs 😱 They switched us to a third room. I checked a bed thinking that I would not find anything and I saw a bug! I don’t know if it was a flea or a bedbug but my boyfriend found a flea on another bed ! We asked for a refund and they accepted. Jane was very helpful and handled well the situation. I felt she wanted to help and felt bad of the situation. On the other hand, another person from the staff was not so nice and implied we might had brought the bedbug.. which is possible as you can catch them while travelling … but as we found bedbugs in 3 rooms, they clearly have a problem. So, we found ourselves at midnight looking for another hotel. Most of them don’t have reception at this time but luckily we found something nice nearby. So, if you decide to stay there, be careful and check your bed!! Also, I find the value for money for private room is not good. I thought it was because Holbox is an expensive island but when we switched hotel we found a very nice hotel and it ended up being cheaper!
