Foresteria Sociale Venice S.Marco is a pure location play. It puts you very close to San Marco, the canals, water-bus access, and central Venice wandering, and a few rooms even get canal views. The best case is a central short stay with a comfortable-enough bed, usable lockers, and staff who can handle a last-minute arrival. Everything else is a trade. The dorm setup can feel like lots of beds squeezed into old connected rooms, with limited privacy, unreliable AC, no elevator to some upper rooms, and bathrooms that get overwhelmed. Summer can mean heat, mosquitoes, dirty or broken showers/sinks, noise, and extra charges for luggage/towels/locks. Good only if you need the central Venice bed more than you need comfort.
