Bed bug reports

Not as good as other Onefam hostels I have stayed at. The rooms are not bunks so it can be a little awkward and a group in a different room left early because of bed bugs. As always with onefam the activities were alright but I was disappointed compared to Barcelona

I did not book in advance, but definitely overpriced compared to other nearby hostels. No privacy curtains but smaller dorms. I decided not to go scorched earth, but I suspect that there were bedbugs (I discovered multiple clear bedbug bites at my next hostel, it was either from Sungate or my previous hostel but suspecting Sungate). I do understand every hostel probably has issues with bedbugs but definitely check your bed. Found the other travellers to be mostly young Americans.

Possible Hostelworld
C’était une très bonne auberge mais je rentre avec des punaises de lit. J’ai des piqûres sur tout le corps et j’essaye de m’en debarasser …. Éviter la chambre 6

However, my stay took a terrible turn. On the first morning, I woke up with red spots on my body, especially on my arms, and had spent the entire night itching uncontrollably. It was clear I had been bitten by bed bugs. When I reported the issue, the staff was not as understanding as I had hoped. In fact, they implied that the problem was somehow my fault, which was incredibly upsetting. They washed my clothes at a high temperature, but this ended up ruining them, leaving me without usable clothing for the rest of my trip. I also had to visit a doctor and purchase medication to treat the bites, which added unexpected stress and expenses. I stayed for two nights, but the bed bug issue completely ruined my experience and overshadowed any positive aspects of the stay. Overall, I was extremely disappointed and wouldn’t recommend this place, given how poorly the situation was handled.

Vibe Analysis
No bunk beds, comfortable beds, and rooms that often feel spacious make this hostel easier to rest in than a typical dorm setup. It is also very clean, and the basics are well covered, with breakfast, toiletries, and hair dryers part of the setup. The location is right by Sol and very central in Madrid, so it works well for walking around the city. The atmosphere is lively and social, with daily activities, walking tours, bar crawls, drinking games, and free dinners keeping the place active. Staff are warm and helpful, with useful city tips and a welcoming check-in.
