The Hideaway Hostel near Yellowstone
Vibe Analysis
The Hideaway is a small, woodsy cabin-style hostel with a quiet, tucked-away feel near Yellowstone. It is clean, cozy, and home-like, with comfortable beds, a well-equipped kitchen, shared common space, and a help-yourself breakfast setup that can include basics like bagels, toast, fruit, yogurt, eggs, cereal, milk, cream cheese, and jam. Wildlife can be part of the stay here: deer, elk, barn owls, and even a moose family have been seen or heard around the property. The location feels peaceful and remote rather than busy or urban, and the drive can work well for Yellowstone trips, though timing varies a lot by route, park plans, and road conditions. This is more cabin house than party hostel. The setup is organized with labels, instructions, self check-in, and plenty of house rules, which helps keep the place tidy but can feel over-managed. Beth and staff can be friendly, helpful, and responsive, though staff may not be on site. Security is a mixed picture: the property can feel safe and individual rooms may have keypad locks, but exterior doors may be left unlocked or not lock properly. Arrival also needs attention, because the remote setting, limited cell service, multiple cabins or houses, and self check-in can make late or unclear directions stressful.
Signals to check
- Remote location with limited nearby restaurant options and potentially long Yellowstone drive times.
- Self check-in can be confusing, especially after dark or without cell service.
- Exterior doors may not lock, though individual rooms may have keypad locks.
- Breakfast quality may vary from generous options to a sparse setup.
- This is quiet and rule-heavy, not a classic social party hostel.
