Breakfast is usually a real plus, with a buffet that can feel generous, varied, and better than the rooms. Rooms are the tradeoff. Expect a very basic hostel setup rather than hotel comfort: bunk beds, compact bathrooms, sinks that may sit in the room, no TV, no common kitchen, and a make-your-own-bed system. Cleanliness, noise, mosquitoes, shower pressure, heat, and value for money can be uneven.
