Cheers Vintage Hostel

Cheers Vintage Hostel has a killer Sultanahmet location, a short walk from Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Arasta Bazaar, and the old-city tourist core. The rooftop bar and terrace can be the best part of the place, with daytime views, breakfast or drinks, and an easy launchpad for a very central Istanbul stay. The social side is real but uneven. There may be Turkish dinners, pub crawl energy, a bar upstairs, and friendly staff such as Peter, Sinan, Burak, Ozi, Alberto, and Alex making the place feel warmer. It is not reliably a big social machine, though; the common space can feel small or quiet, and the pub crawl gets sharply mixed reactions. This is a rough-around-the-edges budget hostel, not a polished stay. Rooms can be tiny, worn, and very old, with basement rooms drawing the harshest complaints for smell, dampness, flies, poor air, and bathrooms in bad shape. Cleanliness, maintenance, hot water, AC, lockers, towel policy, laundry pricing, and cash/payment handling can all be hit-or-miss. The biggest warning is hygiene. Recent bed bug claims appear across multiple rooms, including dorms, private rooms, and basement rooms. If that risk is a dealbreaker, this is a hard pass until the hostel has clearly fixed it.
