CHE Bacalar Hostel & Bar is Bacalar in nightclub mode: pool, rooftop hangout space, bar energy, young crowd, and easy access to the lagoon/center zone. It can work if the plan is to drink, meet a loud crew, and use the hostel as a party base instead of a recovery pod. The upside is the scale. There are plenty of places to hang out, a pool, modern-ish dorm/private-room setups, and enough movement for a solo traveler to find a scene quickly. On the right night it lands as fun and vibrant; on the wrong night the bar takes over the whole stay. This is not a gentle backpacker house. It seems best for groups or solo travelers actively seeking a loud party hostel and willing to keep an eye on charges, room comfort, and boundaries. If Bacalar is supposed to be lagoon recovery mode, this one may fry the circuit board.
