If you want a clean hostel, this is it. Daily cleanings and free towels/clean sheets (to prevent contamination of bed bugs).

BED BUGS! Me and my girlfriend had really bad experience there! When we left and I've called back to tell them about the situation, where they told me that they cannot help us anymore. From the conversation I understood they are aware of this situation from before.

This over priced hostel may look nice from the pictures but in reality it is a dirty uncomfortable room that will give you bed bugs! Eight people from my tour group all got attacked by bed bugs from the hostel, even in the expensive private rooms. When we complained to reception they didn't care either and merely gave a free token to use their overpriced laundry facilities that were all broken and took over three hours just to dry clothes. You could not pay me enough to stay at this hostel again.

PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE !!! Was really looking forward to staying as the previous reviews were amazing! We stayed in one 8 bed room and one 6 bed room. The room smelt foul as soon as you walked in, the mattresses were stained with blood and other unknown substances. There were bed bugs and insects crawling in the room. The bathroom was disgusting- there were flies in the shower and the toilet was blocked. DO NOT STAY HERE!! THIS IS NO WHERE NEAR 4 STARS!!

It was nice. Clean overall, but I can't give it perfect scores as my buddy spotted bedbugs on his bunk. That being said, they immediately changed us to a new room so they could clean it out and gave us tokens for laundry (and some drink tickets for the inconvenience). They took it very seriously, and if you've traveled much you understand it happens sometimes.

This hostel was bedbug-free, but otherwise pretty dirty. The bathrooms smelled and there was lots of dust. The privacy curtains were dirty. They also don’t make the beds for guests, which seems a bit odd. I don’t think the staff were particularly friendly. I got pretty sick while staying there, and they were unhelpful and not sympathetic. While sick, I asked for a disposable cup (since I didn’t have the energy to wash dishes) and the person at the front desk was clearly upset by this simple request even though I was visibly ill and they had disposable cups sitting right near where I was. If you have accessibility concerns, I also wouldn’t recommend here. The elevator is slow and the other one doesn’t work at all. The included breakfast is super expensive, so I’d avoid that. And they make you pay money to store your bags before check-in, which seems a bit crazy. I met some nice solo travelers here, and the bar was nice and not too expensive. I liked a lot of the activities they organized to meet people. I probably wouldn’t stay here again, but you could do worse in London.

Really a nice hostel! I‘ve been to many hostels in Europe and this is one of the best ones I‘ve ever been. They clean the rooms regularly and there was no signs of any bed bugs. The rooms are sometimes a little bit loud since there is the railway next to it but it depends on the location of the room. Overall, I am happy with what I got for the money.

    - you have to pay extra if you want a towel - uncomfortable to carry your bedsheets to reception upon departure - female only rooms are more expensive

Found a bed bug in my bed and there was a ton of dust in the fan. Overall not the cleanest but has nice facilities

DO NOT STAY HERE! I am not sure where the positive reviews come from. The rooms are dilapidated and falling apart. We noticed the presence of bedbugs in the beds, and there was standing water in the middle of the floor under the beds. The lamps on the beds actually came apart on their own when we opened the door to the room. There was a bit of a foul odor from the room too, as if no one cleaned the unit. The elevators also were in poor condition (one was out of service)! Look anywhere else.

Good all round hostel. Bed's aren't the confiest, but you still have good privacy. The bar is pretty good, but no organised event which makes it harder to meet people as a solo traveller. Overall a pretty good hostel and no bed bugs.

While there I got bitten by bedbugs. I complained to management who accused me of catching bedbugs somewhere else. I could not believe this - so rude and unacceptable.

It’s kind of a mixed bag for me. On one hand. It’s great and ticks all the boxes location, facilities and atmosphere. But on the other, the price was expensive, a pipe burst? and the roof of my dorm sprayed water like a shower head forcing to move rooms + leading to the whole water systems being cut off for a day. + possible bed bug contamination. So it’s tough my criticism is circumstantial and the staff did there best. For the cost of the hostel I couldn’t help but walk away a little sour.

Leider hatte das Bett Bettwanzen, was aber immer und überall passieren kann

Vibe Analysis

The massive communal kitchen is the standout at Wombat's City Hostel London: four ovens, plenty of workspace, and enough scale to make cooking a real option, though cutlery and kitchen cleanliness can be inconsistent. The hostel has a big basement bar, cafe-style common space, and games like pool, snooker, and ping pong. It can feel lively and young, with a strong bar-centered setup, but the social side is not always loose or event-heavy; rules around noise and dancing can make it feel stricter than expected. Rooms are modern in parts, with privacy curtains in at least some dorm beds, bed outlets or USB access in some setups, and keycard access. The location works well for Tower Bridge and daytime walking, with tube stations roughly a 10-15 minute walk away, but late-night comfort around the area and airport runs may be less smooth.
