Woods Hostel is mostly a Pampulha play: close to the lake, with a house-style setup, pool, outdoor areas, and a price that can make sense if the location is the whole mission. The good version is simple: lake walks, a pretty property, some helpful staff, and a low-friction stop in Belo Horizonte. The tradeoff is not subtle. This is better treated as a budget crash pad than a polished social hostel. Dorm density, ventilation, bathroom load, breakfast rules, and noise show up again and again, so the right traveler is flexible, low-maintenance, and not precious about comfort.
