Gecko Backpackers Hostel

Bedbugs!!! After 4 days in this hostel my legs turned into meat because they were bitten by bedbugs that live in blankets and beds it's horrible I don't recommend anyone to sleep there because you can see in the photo what my legs became after the stay. The drain in our room didn't work well. No one cleaned the room, the bath. Not once in four days. It was unpleasant.

Had a man making sex noises by himself in my room! Told staff and they let me move but I felt more could be done to address it. Others heard shagging in another room :/ didn’t see any bed bugs but sheets were stained with signs there used to be bed bugs. No one used the pool and it looked a bit dirty/was in the process of being fixed. Spend a couple more pounds and avoid this place is my advice

No more bedbugs!!! Ended up in room 202 which previously had bed bugs. They got some really nice new mattresses now! Room was humid and breakfast was alright.

Get rid of the bed bugs. Check your beds before booking people into them. Clean the rooms thoroughly. Don’t book anymore people into room 202 until the bed bug infestation is sorted!!!

Lovely backpackers volunteering at reception here who were very helpful. Unfortunately we did not have a great experience here. We did not enjoy the food and found bed bugs all over our things on the last morning. The cleaning staff did little to help us and tried to laugh it off even though we had to throw some things away. Some clothes also shrunk in the washing service here. We wanted to love this hostel but were unlucky i think.
