Hostal Sol is a very central, basic base in Zamora, close to Plaza Mayor, Santa Clara, bars, restaurants, supermarkets, and the old-town wander. It can work as a cheap crash pad for a short city visit, especially if the priority is location over comfort, style, or social energy. Some rooms have air conditioning or good heating, and hot water can be solid. The reception can be friendly, with small helpful moments like early room access, parking tips, help with a remote, or follow-up for a forgotten jacket. Pets may be accepted without an extra charge. The rough side is hard to ignore. Rooms are often small, old, dark, or different from the photos, with thin walls and noise from nearby rooms, corridors, the street, bars, plumbing, or machinery. Bathrooms are the biggest pain point: cramped layouts, old fixtures, broken or incomplete shower screens, sewer smells, poor drainage, awkward sinks, and scarce hooks or toiletries. Cleanliness is a serious caveat here. There are recurring problems with dust, hair, stained towels or bedding, smells of tobacco or damp, and neglected areas under beds or in bathrooms. Treat this as a central Zamora budget stop for one or two nights, not a polished hostel scene.
