Came away with bed bug bites

* BED BUGS!!! I had bites all over and didn’t sleep at all. Changed to 3 different beds and all had it. * Air conditioner leaked. * Bed sheets were a bit stained. * GET GOOD EARPLUGS! The music goes on till 4 am — the staff even warns you about it. Personally the place is cheap and it was ok. I didn’t sleep anything though because the bed bugs have me a bad rash so — didn’t meet my needs.

The shared rooms had no locks and the water pressure sometimes faltered. There is some noise at night, but that is to be expected, taking into account it is in Khao San Road. Definitely the worst part was that there were bed bugs in my room (including the walls). When I complained to the staff member, he at first dismissed it and when I pointed out the bugs directly, he simply moved me to the bed two spots to the right. After I complained again, he moved me to another room, with the same conditions and sheets with black spots. After that I just booked a new hostel and moved. I think the worst part was really the lack of awareness of the problem bed bugs are.

Water from the showers/taps spluttered when coming out. The bedding has like pen marks all over them? Also I had to change beds because I found lots of bed bugs in my bed however I think it may have just been a problem with the entire room unfortunately as there were still some in the new bed too.

Though the female staff had done a lot of cleaning there were lot of bed bugs which I noticed on the second day of cleaning and when I told that to the male staff who was there at the night he just nodded yes there must be bed bugs and continued playing his game and did nothing. I vacated the hostel at night 2 because I felt it was good to stay at the airport as I was going to leave around 6 anyway because there was no response and his service was really bad.

There are too many bedbugs and fleas... I'm covered in itchy welts from their bites.

When I was staying there, there was paper showing toilet costs 10THB, taking shower costs 100BHT on the wall to bathroom. I paid 100 THB by cash for key deposit other than payment for one day fee 215.78THB online but I just felt that our taking shower and using toilet can be reasons not to return deposit. When I checked out at 10:50 morning, no one at reception and I asked how to return the key on phone call, I was told that I must wait for 2 hours to meet hostel staff (or put key on reception desk without refund of key deposit 100 THB). I waited outside and could pass the key to owner directly two hours later but I thought that they can take some action not to return deposit intentionally. I think in Thailand, it's not rare case not to return deposit because of absence of staffs, I reccomend to go to hostels with stronger responsibility or reliability.

Vibe Analysis
Right on Khao San Road, this hostel is built for nights out. It has a lively bar, daily events, pub crawls, and tours, so it is easy to get involved and meet people fast. The rooms are new, clean, and comfortable. Beds are very private and comfy, and the hostel feels welcoming for solo travelers as well as groups. The staff come across as friendly, helpful, and energetic, and they do a lot to keep the atmosphere fun and easygoing. Food, bars, shops, and transport are close at hand.
