Very expensive hostel for what it is. I was completely bitten up for bedbugs during 3 nights, after this I asked them to change the mattress because was weird and it wasn't just mosquitos. Towels are in really bad condition, also they don't give us the second sheet. Just put like a cover which is scratchy.

Super overpriced- seems to be the way over there though. Very noisy when people walk past in evening as zero soundproofing/ huge gap under door. ‘Bathroom’ a toilet with a shower over it basically- seems the norm for many more budget places though in Malaysia but for this price I’d expect better. I can’t be sure but pretty sure I got bitten by bed bugs here also. They showed up a couple of days after I left. May have been from the plane though, but I’m wondering if because there is not hot water perhaps that’s a problem.

Very filthy rooms that are like 4m2, painted in grey to hide the filth. Bedbugs. After first night I discovered that I crushed a cocroach underneath me while I slept (at least it didn't walk on my face) and thank god my companion didn't see it. I don't know honestly how people possibly could leave good comments about accommodation (maybe suited for european backpackers?).

Vibe Analysis
The in-house dive school gives Ohlala Guesthouse a real reason to exist beyond a cheap bed on Long Beach. Open-water courses, fun dives, snorkeling trips, ferry help, and boat logistics can be sorted through the property, and the dive crew helps make the island feel easy. The location is the other big pull: beachfront on Long Beach, close to restaurants and nightlife, with free sun loungers, umbrellas, sea-facing terraces, hammocks, and balcony space for watching evening fire shows. The mood is relaxed and social without feeling like a full-throttle party hostel all the time, and the staff often make the place feel warm, chatty, and family-ish. Rooms are simple island-budget stuff rather than polished comfort. Dorm beds may have curtains, lights, chargers, and lockers, while some private rooms have air-con, balconies, or sea views. Breakfast is included and can be solid, with pancakes, eggs, sausages, toast, and set-menu options; the restaurant food can also be a plus. Book this for beach access, diving, hammocks, cats, friendly staff, and a barefoot Long Beach base. Do not book it expecting boutique facilities: some rooms are tiny, dark, hot, noisy, or fan-only, and the shared bathrooms are a major tradeoff.
