BED BUGS. This is one of the worst hostels I've stayed in. There's an unsettling ambience and it's not good for socialising. A mixed smell of weed and sewer. It was very dirty under the beds and other places they don't expect you to look. I woke up with bed bug bites after my first night, and the manager and whole staff took it seriously enough to evacuate my bed, but not enough to wash my clothes and disinfect or freeze my belongings so I could continue my travel in another hostel. They said: "it's not our responsibility", which it very clearly was. Please don't go here, unless you're prepared to wash, tumbledry, freeze and disinfectant your belongings without any support from them. Unacceptable behaviour.

The beds were disgusting. I rented one room with 3 beds. The mattresses were soiled with giant urine stains along with mold and other unknown stains. I refused to stay there and when I asked for a refund they refused. They said "It’s unusual that you chose to remove the bedding—this is not standard practice.” I do this any place I stay to check for things like this and for bed bugs. These mattresses should have been immediately thrown away after they were soiled. This is a health concern. In no way should these mattresses still be used for guests.

The room and the staff are awesome and very helpful. The location is great, you can reach everything on foot. I visited Prague together with my father and we were pretty happy with the double room with private bathroom. But! When I arrived home, I noticed many red bites on my body, so out was my first time bedbug experience in the very heart of Prague. Really sad, if not this it would be perfect, but bedbugs... Not recommended

Volle 5 Sterne

!WARNING BED BUGS! We were supposed to stay at the hostel for 4 nights but then we found A LOT of bed bugs. They were all over the beds, walls and floors. We also saw them in the corridors outside of the room. We talked to the staff and they told us they did not have a room we could switch to. When we talked to the staff they did not seem surprised at all and we did not receive a great treatment by the receptionist. At last we got to speak to the manager who was not taking it serious at all, he even laughed at me when I told him about it. If you read the reviews it is obvious that this is a problem at the hostel and they do not take it seriously. They told us that they were cleaners there to fix the problem but from what we saw they were regular cleaners with no equipment for sanitation. Except from the bed bugs and the bad service the beds were so uncomfortable, no storage or a place to hang your things.

Unfortunately, during our stay, I was bitten by bedbugs. That’s always a serious problem when travelling. Some of the other guests were also very noisy, talking and shouting until one o’clock in the morning. It was also quite hot in the room and there was only one fan.

They literally knew there were BEDBUGS and still let us stay in the room. We left as soon as we noticed. They were clearly visable. The staff told us they were treated with chemicals 24 hours before, which means there were still toxic chemicals also. Horrible experience, do not recommend. There was also mold in the bathroom and some sketchy people.

Look elsewhere than the Clown & Bard Hostel. From the moment we entered the establishment, we were greeted with a rude and disorganized reception staff. The deposit for room keys was petty and off-putting. We were then led to our rooms in the hostel. Our group of four was supposed to be sharing a room, in accordance with our reservation. However, the staff split us up between two rooms. We were also notified that the hot water heater in the unit was broken, so showers would be cold. After getting dinner that night, I decided to take a quick nap before plans to head out that evening. I was woken up to my friends with flashlights looking at bed bugs on the walls. Groggy, I slowly get up and see about a dozen bed bugs on my pillow and several on my neck and chest. My friend quickly brushed them off. We notified reception, which operates as a bar later in the night. I then went on to take a cold shower. Unfortunately, the staff member seemed more interested in pouring drinks than addressing our concerns. He did in fact give us a new room, though that room also had bed bugs. With no where to sleep and hotels nearby closed, we just took an all-nighter, just sitting in the plastic chairs of our room. That morning, we checked out and fortunately did receive a full refund for our stay, which I give them credit for, though again the reception was hostile and tried to argue that bed bugs are to be expected for a hostel that sees people from all around the world. In short, my group appreciates the refund, and this may be an uncommon experience at this hostel. I would be careful in booking here.

Our group of 13 people (eleven students and two teachers) stayed for four nights, we had five rooms. Unfortunately, the hostel is dirty and run down: We had bedbugs in two rooms (in one room they were crawling along the walls and beds, in the other room we had blood spills from their bites on the bedlinen). When we complained about the missing hygiene and the bedbugs, we were offered a full refund for these two rooms and were told that we could stay or look for an alternative elsewhere – there was no other room available and since all other hostels in Prague were booked at this time (probably because of the UEFA cup finals) we had no other option than to stay in the same rooms. No one cleaned them during our remaining nights, so we had to sleep under these horrible circumstances. When we were back home, we realized that another person also had bitemarks, so this makes 3 of 5 rooms. Everyone sleeping in these rooms either had to get rid of their clothes/luggage or had make sure that they were cleaned professionally. Financially speaking, this definitely did not make up for the refund we received. Last but not least, we also realized that we carried scabies home – so please do yourself a favor and look for another place to stay …..

Interesting stay.. When we arrived first in Prague, I looked up the place and happened to see some reviews from 2 days ago (we had this booked months in advance). Many recent reviews said there was bed bugs.. and we freaked out. As it was already paid, we went and explained our worries, and the guy at the reception said everything was fixed and he seemed nice. We checked the room and it was fine. The mattress are quite literally paper thin, and there was one socket in the room. The rooms were also very warm. But the bathrooms/kitchens were clean. Also were given a hairdryer at reception. It is kinda noisy but out ear plugs in and you will sleep okay.

Giving one star because I am not able to give less than that. The stay at this hostel turned out to be the worst experience for us during our central Europe trip. Could not sleep throughout the night because of bed bugs. The bathrooms and toilets were very unclean. Same with the condition of rooms. Please avoid going to this hostel if you don't want to ruin your trip.

Bedbugs are understandable because it is a cheap hostel, but for the staff to not help us and also tell us that we’re lying is incredibly upsetting.

Travelers beware, this hostel has bedbugs. And is not worth the price. The reviews were not too great so we already expected a mediocre place, but having bedbugs crawl all across the bed, and then see even more bedbugs after changing to a new room and bed is just beyond outrageous. Definitely not worth the physical or mental cost. Seems like it’s always been an issue here as reviews from three years ago to just two days ago all have bedbug complaints. Just go somewhere else.

This place is a joke. My friends and I got rooms at clown and bard for our stay in Prague and the experience was the worst I have ever had in a hostel. When we initially got there, the receptionist was rude and began adding extra charges onto the room we had already paid for. This included a security deposit for the keys, which they didn’t even have enough for our entire group to get keys. We had to make a fuss then and there to get them to actually put in an ounce of effort to find the final key for our group. The rooms were dingy, musty, and outdated. The receptionist informed us that the showers only had cold water because their heater was still broken, but it would be fixed soon enough. We had a total of two outlets in our room meant for two people. We set our stuff down to explore Prague and when we returned, decided to rest on our beds. It was while laying on my bed that I was suddenly swarmed by these little white flying bugs. Then, I looked over and realized there were bed bugs climbing behind the headrest of the bed. My friend, who had decided to take a nap, had bed bugs swarming all over his neck. And these weren’t just baby bed bugs, these were large bed bugs that had clearly been there for a while. We immediately went to reception to resolve the issue, but they were too busy serving drinks and just gave us keys to a new random room. To ensure that we weren’t bringing bed bugs into our new room, we took a shower… a cold, miserable shower. During said shower, my friends found bed bugs in their beds as well and when they informed reception, they responded with frustration that they hadn’t been informed earlier. We’re sorry WE just found bed bugs in YOUR establishment. We’ll do a more thorough search next time. And our new rooms weren’t much better: the new bed had a dead bed bug lying on it when we got there. And how was management going to fix all of this? Spraying our original mattress with pesticides and then sending us back in. For us to breathe in while we sleep. A brilliant solution by the clowns running this circus. TLDR; do not stay at Clown and Bard. Save yourself the stress of having to deal with these jokers and just get an AirBnB or stay somewhere else.

A cheap hostel, get what you oay for however, be warned, bed bugs were found in some of the rooms, caused people to need last minute accomodation elsewhere and an ultimately poor night sleep. Staff didn't seem to know how to solve the issue and just offered another bed where possible however this doesn't make the problem go away. The shared bathroom lock is also not very secure and bathroom overall was dirty.

Review of my Stay at Clown & Bard Hostel in Prague I recently had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Clown & Bard Hostel in Prague, and I must say that it was far from pleasant. From the moment I arrived, the reception left a lot to be desired. The lady working at the reception had a high attitude and was consistently rude in her responses. I found her to be extremely unhelpful and unwelcoming. The condition of the hostel rooms was appalling. They were not only dirty but also had an unbearable stench that permeated the entire space. To make matters worse, I discovered bed bugs during my stay, which was a horrifying experience. The beds and blankets were also incredibly smelly, making it impossible to get a good night's sleep. The state of the bathrooms was equally disappointing. They were clearly not cleaned regularly, and I encountered feces on the floor, which was utterly unsanitary and unhygienic. It was evident that the cleanliness of the facilities was not a priority for the hostel. One of the major issues I faced during my stay was the noise level within the hostel. The other guests were extremely loud and inconsiderate, creating an unpleasant atmosphere. I felt unsafe due to the rowdy behavior and the lack of security measures in place. Additionally, the loud music emanating from the underground pub made it impossible to get any rest or sleep peacefully. The kitchens were also in a deplorable state. They were dirty and unkempt, making it difficult to prepare a meal or even find clean utensils. Overall, my experience at the Clown & Bard Hostel was exceptionally poor. The unhelpful and rude receptionist, coupled with the dirty and bug-infested rooms, unclean bathrooms, disruptive guests, and noisy surroundings, made for an extremely uncomfortable stay. I would not recommend this hostel to anyone looking for a pleasant and enjoyable accommodation experience in Prague.

Check-in was easy. However, just after I arrived in my room, I saw a bedbug on the wall (I know what they look like because I had them 10 years ago in my apartment). I informed the staff and I was given the option to change rooms or to be refunded. I inspected the other possible room and didn’t see any signs of bedbugs. So I decided to stay. The hostel is pretty average and not as close to the city center as some others but for the price, I can’t complain.
