Les Chouettes Hostel (SARL VENEZIA HOSTEL)
Bed bug reports

Confirmed Hostelworld
I enjoyed staying here and would stay here again. The staff are nice and the common area is nice, but small. It's located very close to everything. The bed area is spacious and comfortable with electricity and lights in each bunk. There were no bedbugs, and I checked! The lockers aren't really secure. I think they could fix this by adjusting the mechanism. The bathroom was pretty clean. The shower and toilet stalls are small. Need hooks in the toilet stalls.

Vibe Analysis
The riverside courtyard and terrace are the clearest personality here: a small outdoor perch by the Vilaine for a drink, a smoke, a quiet read, or a low-key sunset pause. Inside, the cafe-bar lounge has cosy decor, plants, warm lighting, and a compact social feel rather than a big party-hostel setup. Les Chouettes works best as a cute, central Rennes base with friendly staff, easy access to the station, the old town, buses, restaurants, creperies, shops, and the Parc du Thabor. Breakfast may be simple or Breton-style, with options like baguette, butter, jam, hot drink, apple juice, galette, and Breton cake. Dorm beds usually lean practical: curtains, individual lights and sockets, under-bed storage, and comfortable bedding show up as real strengths. Private rooms may feel closer to a small hotel room, with modern bathrooms in better cases. The tradeoff is space and maintenance. Dorms, bathrooms, toilets, and shower stalls can be tight, lockers may not lock well, and hot water or push-button showers can be annoying. Noise depends heavily on room position and dorm behavior, especially near stairs, bathrooms, or the entrance lounge.
Signals to check
- No guest kitchen is available; food and drink are mainly through the cafe-bar setup.
- Shared bathrooms and toilets can be very small, with limited places to put belongings.
- Showers may use short push-button timers, and hot water has been inconsistent.
- Lockers and under-bed storage may be noisy, awkward, or not fully secure.
- Dorm comfort can vary with heat, ventilation, dust, noise, and room size.
