Clean hostel; no bed bugs!! Staff extremely extremely friendly and helpful. Great location - walking distance to everything in Tanah rata. Only thing I’d say is the 8 bed female dorm gets boiling hot cause there’s no AC which can make it hard to sleep… so maybe book in the massive dorm!

The hostel is really nice, in a great location, and has great amenities. Sadly there is a bed bug infestation currently, at least in the all girl dorm. I’m leaving this review because I feel the staff aren’t taking it seriously enough.

We had bed bugs and left in the middle of the night. We came back the next day to get our money back which they did luckily.

The location is great, but there are bed bugs here and I got bitten a lot.

We vonden de eerste nacht een bedbug op het kussen. Daarna geswitched naar een ander hotel. Ze waren wel erg behulpzaam en we kregen ons geld terug!

I experienced bed bug bites over two nights during my stay. I kindly recommend that the hostel owner consider addressing the issue to ensure a more comfortable experience for future guests.

BEDBUGS!!! We stayed there for 3 nights and I woke up the second morning with a bedbug on my arm. We immediately told the staff but they said they couldn’t give us a refund so instead we could get moved to a different room. Apparently they’ve had a problem with bedbugs for over a year now as the reviews suggest, and the person working there also told me they close down once a month to spray everything. I guess it doesn’t work all that well… Lobby etc was nice to hang out but that was not okay…

The staff is friendly but bedbugs ruined my stay

Während unseres Aufenthalts gab es Bettwanzen sowie Flöhe. Starke Insektizide unter den Betten haben zu Hautreizungen, Ausschlag und Augenjucken geführt. Lage war aber ganz gut. Wenn man sich nicht mit der Beseitigung von verschleppten Bettwanzen herumschlagen möchte, dann würden wir das Hostel nicht empfehlen.

We found some Bedbugs inside the beds. Not very clean. Staff was friendly. Location near City Center.

Sleepbox was overall nice, the beds were comfortable, the location was good and the staff were lovely. Unfortunately, we did find bed bug bites all over us after staying here. The staff were apologetic about this and I understand it is hard to control but this was obviously a big negative for us.

Lovely place to stay. One big room with podstyle-beds so still quiet. Just a short walk from the town centre. The two guys running it are amazingly warm and welcoming. No bedbugs!!!

I got bed bugs sleeping here, too bad because it was so cozy and nicely situated, the service is also very good.

Leider roch es sehr nach Chemie. Außerdem waren die Marken für die Waschmaschine sehr teuer und man durfte nur ein 28min Handwäscheprogramm nutzen, davon wurden meine Sachen nicht sauber.

Die Unterkunft hatte ein Problem mit Bedbugs. Wir hatten zwar keine im Bett, aber es hat sehr stark chemisch gerochen und unter der Matratze lagen Insektenkugeln - das kann nicht gesund sein darauf zu schlafen und zeugt von keinem guten Umgang der Besitzer mit der Gesundheit der Gäste. Außerdem stand mitten im Zimmer ein Bügelbrett und es war oft morgens laut, weil andere Menschen angefangen haben ihre Sachen zu bügeln. Wir würden von einem Aufenthalt abraten.

BED BUGS GUYS.. i was bitten by bed bugs a lot and still recovering after 5 days i checkout ..even need to eat medicine cause it was so crazy, you know how bad it ... this is my worst experience sleeping in hotel !!

I got eaten up by bed bugs, and I'm still carrying them as a result of staying at this hostel. It's a distressing situation. When I notified the staff, they were helpful, putting my clothes in the dryer and changing my bed. But the fact that they were already fully aware that the accomodation gets these bugs regularly from the environing forests suggests a serious problem with the ethics of this hostel. They shouldn't be bringing in guests unless the issue is adressed completely. Merely having plentiful bottles of itching balm behind the counter isn't a solution. My suggestion is this: screen the windows and fumigate the premises. A warning to other travelers. Do not stay at this hostel until their bed bug issue is fixed.

Read about bedbug issue. However my stay was great. Good experience. Faizal, a nice guy and friendly staff, been told the bedbug issue has been sorted out in July by pest control company. A nice place to stay....

TW : punaise de lit N'y allez pas, avant même d'ouvrir les draps nous avons constaté la présence de punaise de lit. Le staff le sait, il n'a pas été alerté par la photo. Nous avons décidé de prendre un autre hébergement. Il y a plein d'autres hostel à cameron islands bien plus recommandable.

TW : punaises de lit Terrible expérience dans cet hostel. Nous sommes arrivées et nous avons appris que le dortoire femme que nous avions portant réservé n'était pas disponible. Nous avons donc accepté de prendre 2 lits dans le dortoire mixte bien plus grand. Sans même avoir à soulevé les draps nous avons constaté la présence de punaises de lit vivantes. Nous avons trouvé un autre logement. Les frais avancés pour réserver les lits n'ont pas été remboursés. À fuir.

We stayed two nights in this hostel in July 2023. We read a lot of comments here about bedbugs, but fortunately we didn't have any problem. However the wohle place smells like products against bedbugs and the were some kind of insect repellent balls under our mattress. That cannot be healthy. It's a pity because the location is good and the stuff is friendly.

Worst hostel ever. BED BUGS EVERYWHERE, they know it and don’t even care, told the reception, he was acting in front of another girl like i didn’t have any proof so i took a video. The receptionist started to be really rude and started shouting at me telling me to leave the hostel. I left and had to find an other hostel at 10:30 pm. NEVER go there, they are unrespectful, rude, and don’t even care about the bed bugs.

The place has a serious bed-bug problem in the female dorm. Good service though- they gave me an option to either upgrade my room to another dorm or take a refund. The location is main road- so accessible but noisy. There’s a food outlet right below and a Zumba place right above. The place is well done and has all facilities nonetheless.

Bedbugs in my bed. It is a big problem. The staff was not kind, when I arrive the guy didn’t look at me because he was watching a movie, he didn’t explain me anything, he gave me the key and that’s it. The toilets and shower are not enough for the total number of people and they were a little dirty. Last but not least, Bedbugs in my bed has forced me to leave after one night.

in the female dorm room where BED BUGS. They try to take care of it but it doesn’t work and I also don’t feel like they take it serious enough. I found 3 adult ones full of blood and a smaller one. If you don’t wash your whole backpack you can bring them to another hostel… pls wash/tumble dry your stuff at 50 degrees! other things: • bed bugs in female dorm • soap was often empty • sheets had a bit of hair and stains (smelled fresh though) • it gets a bit hot in the capsual (no AC) • trash gets emptied only every other day • receptionist doesn’t know a lot about the area • reception isn’t occupied the whole time

Huge bed bug issue. Was supposed to stay 2 nights but after the first night my friends and I noticed bed bugs in all of our bunks. I woke up with a bed bug moving on my pillow. We went to ask for a refund and before I even finished my sentence as to why the receptionist said “why bed bugs? We had the place cleaned for them 2 days ago”, he was well aware of the problem. Bed bugs!!! None of the top reviews mentioned this, but when I looked at them again with a filter by date, I saw how many reviews mentioned it. Reviews mention it as far back as half a year ago so this place knows full well they have bed bugs and are not handling it and not telling guests - stay away!!! Aight then lads. So overall it’s not bad and I’m not a fussy traveller but there are a few downsides. There’s a serious bed bug problem. This is of course a reasonably common hostel problem but they know about it and as soon as someone has moved out of a bed because of bed bugs they offer it to someone else. So that’s not ideal….well it’s just plain negligence. Onto the staff, you will talk to one guy mostly and when I say you will talk to him I mean you talk to him and he watches his marvel film on the tv

Achtung Bettwanzen!!!!!!! Habe am ganzen Körper die juckenden Bisse der Bettwanzen und musste alle meine Sachen waschen. Ansonsten war das Hostel und die Lage nicht schlecht.

It’s good but there are bedbugs

I had to leave after the first night because I was bitten by bed bugs. I didn't look at the reviews beforehand but if you check their google maps reviews you'll see it's a problem dating back years.

It could be a nice hostel, but I feel like they don't bother to keep it nice. Bathroom is dirty and in our beds were dead bedbugs. Someone in the room had alive ones in their bed. But the people on the reception were nice and helpful

Es gibt Bettwanzen in den Schlafbereichen. Das Management weiß davon schon seit einigen Jahren und macht nichts weiter dagegen. Wer keine schlechte Bewertung auf Booking schreibt, bekommt 10 RM bezahlt. Die Besitzer sollten kein Hostel leiten!!

Super ekliges Hostel! Wir hatten uns für zwei Nächte Betten gebucht. Am Abend fiel uns der Geruch von den Insektizid Kugeln, welche unter den Matratzen liegen, auf. Als wir uns daraufhin etwas genauer umschauten, entdecken wir die ganzen Bettwanzen Kotspuren auf den Matratzen und nach kürzester Zeit, fanden wir auch schon die ersten Bettwanzen mitsamt ihren Nestern. Wir verließen sofort die Unterkunft. Als wir am nächsten Morgen zur Rezeption gingen um unser Geld zurück zu verlangen, bat man uns nur einen Deal an: Wir bekämen unser Geld zurück, wenn das Hostel auf Booking angeben dürfte dass wir nie eingecheckt hätten… das würde aber auch heißen dass wir auf Booking auch keine Rezession hinterlassen konnten. Als wir uns nicht auf den Deal einlassen wollten und einen direkten Kontakt zu den Betreiber:innen des Ladens verlangten, blockte man alles ab und schickte uns raus. Wir recherchierten auch zu den Insekten Kugeln unter den Matratzen und fanden raus das diese hauptsächlich aus Naphthalin bestanden. Dieser Stoff löst bei Menschen unter anderem Kopfschmerzen, Übelkeit, Erbrechen und Verwirrtheitszustände aus. Außerdem kann es Dermatitis und allg. starke Reizungen der Haut hervorrufen. Auch eine Schädigung der Roten Blutkörperchen, der Leber, Nieren und Augenhornhaut ist auf Naphthalin zurückzuführen. Zur Krönung wird auch noch eine Krebserzeugende Wirkung vermutet… aber wirken sie wenigstens gegen Bettwanzen? Leider nein… und auf diesen Dingern schläft man dort. Danke für nichts.

Das schlechteste Hostel in dem ich auf meiner Malaysiarundreise war. Direkt am Eingang fällt einem ein giftiger Geruch auf, der sich später als Anti-Bettwanzen Spray entpuppte. Leider habe ich das erst bemerkt, nachdem ich eine der Biester in meinem Bett gefunden habe. Auf nachfrage wurde mir erzählt, dass das Zimmer in dem ich war erst am Vortag desinfiziert und demnach auch nicht richtig ausgedünstet wurde.

Location was great, Bed was good - we slept in the 26er dorm, it was a lot better and more comfortable than we expected. BUT there were BED BUGS, watch out in february and march 2023!
