The Upper Pass Lodge
Vibe Analysis
The onsite restaurant and bar are the real center of The Upper Pass Lodge: dinner can be genuinely good, with Vermont specialties, local beers, wines, spirits, burgers, and wings in the mix. It gives the lodge more life than a basic ski stop, especially after a day around Magic Mountain. This is an old-school rural Vermont lodge in a scenic, quiet mountain location, close to Magic Mountain and other ski areas. The lounge has a fireplace, the staff can be warm and helpful, and the whole setup leans cozy, unfussy, and slow-paced rather than polished. Rooms can be spacious or basic depending on what you book, with touches like AC, coffee makers, spa tubs, or access to an outdoor pool in the warmer season. The building is clearly older, with worn edges, dated rooms, thin walls, occasional musty smells, steep stairs, and no elevator, so it works best for travelers who value location, food, and lodge character over fresh renovation.
