My stay at La Buena Vista was by far the worst travel experience I’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, the receptionist made us feel completely unwelcome. She was unfriendly, unhelpful, and downright rude—at one point even chasing us out of the common area after we checked out. She was also saying something along the line of: „You are not in Switzerland, you are in Mexico!“ which felt like a threat. The facilities were filthy. Everything was dusty and moldy. After placing my clothes on a table, they ended up with black stains. The blankets were clearly unwashed—or at best, disgustingly dirty. When we asked for a clean one, our request was flat-out refused. Worst of all, I ended up with itches and skin irritation all over my body. I honestly don’t know if it was bedbugs or something else, but it was awful. Do yourself a favor: do not stay here. This place is a huge mistake. View is great though!

Vibe Analysis
The pool is the headline at La Buena Vista: a hillside swimming area with big sea-and-jungle views, hammocks nearby, and plenty of vegetation around the property. The place has an old, rustic Mexico feel, with clay tile floors, wood, cabana-style rooms, terraces, birds, cats, and at least one resident parrot. This is a spacious, nature-heavy budget stay rather than a polished hotel. Some rooms are large, breezy, simple, and good value; a few have terraces, hammocks, mosquito screens, or strong views. The location can work well for Puerto Angel and beach access, with public transport nearby, though the access road can be rough and dark. The tradeoff is serious: maintenance and cleanliness can be rough, and the experience seems inconsistent room to room. Expect lots of stairs, basic equipment, limited service after evening reception hours, spotty Wi-Fi outside the dining area, and possible issues with hot water or drinking water. Staff interactions range from kind and helpful to unavailable or unfriendly.
