  1. Guest report Hostelworld

I got bed bugs in the private suite. But the staff were very helpful. They refunded me and gave me a free breakfast. The rooftop terrace is the best in Morocco. It can get loud since it’s in the residential area. We were awoken in the early morning to a husband and wife screaming at each other. Nothing the hostel can do about that.

The location was great and it was easy to reach everywhere on foot. The staff was helpful and answered all the questions kindly. The terrace has fantastic views to enjoy. I booked private room to feel comfortable. Unfortunately cleanliness did not match my expectations. Also despite closing the windows, there was too much noise from outside that I had to wake up 3-4 times during night. And some bugs bit me through all over my body (I don’t know bedbugs or what else), I got horrible bumps:(

Vibe Analysis

Baytalice’s rooftop terrace is the main event: a big, colorful hangout above the old Medina, with views over Tangier’s rooftops, the sea, and sometimes the port. It works as the social center of the house, good for morning mint tea or coffee, breakfast, meeting other travelers, or just hiding in a quieter corner with the city humming underneath. The hostel sits in an old three-floor house in the Medina, close to Petit Socco and useful for exploring Tangier on foot. The style is more quirky riad-home than polished hotel: colorful decor, curious corners, a lived-in feel, and a small shared kitchen. The staff, especially Ahmed, Nadi, Nabil, and Rachid, seem to be a big part of the charm, with practical help for taxis, restaurants, tours, buses, and local routes. The atmosphere is usually friendly, warm, and easy to join, with a real backpacker-social current rather than a silent sleep pod setup. Wi-Fi can be strong enough for calls and remote work, and morning tea or coffee on the terrace adds a low-key ritual. Go in expecting character, stairs, Medina energy, and an older building with uneven room quality.
