bedbugs, extreme heat, no cold water in the shower or sink, weird people in my room wanting to borrow my shoes or to change beds at 3am

  2. Possible Hostelworld

  3. Confirmed Booking.com

slamming doors all night, the room, the corridor, the bathroom. they do not seem have thought of equipping doors with silencers. I slept on top. whenever the person below my bed or even the next bed moved, my bed moved a lot. bed bugs? very dirty toilet from the evening to the morning. nobody seems to check and clean during the night.

  4. Confirmed Hostelworld

Couldn't recommend this hostel much less. The only nice thing i have to say is that I don't think it gave me bedbugs and its on the canal which is pretty. They lie in this advertising though. Luggage storage isn't included. The lounge is not good. The receptionists are stereotypically judgmental French people. Stay somewhere else

  5. Confirmed Hostelworld

i got bedbugs but no help

  6. Confirmed Hostelworld

6 bed female room was quiet and not very expensive at all. was able to make friends in the room easily, the bar is really lovely downstairs. it was quite hot at night, I also got bitten lots - i think ??? mosquitos but unable to rule out bed bugs - bitten in long lines along my back and legs when they were exposed at night - i couldn’t see any bugs in the bed so it could have been mosquitos. anyway - bring bug spray and long pyjamas! area is okay, canal pretty, near metro

Overzealous security harassed me every single time I walked inside. I wasn’t being loud, rude, or aggressive, literally minding my own business and he would go out of his way to stop me. I can only guess that it’s because I look Arab although I’m not. When I reported him to the front desk they said they could kick me out any time they felt like it and I should be lucky they hadn’t, and they also decided to tell me I couldn’t participate in their events later that evening. For what? I could understand if I had been bothering people or loitering or making a mess or something but I was being perfectly normal. Rudest people I’ve ever encountered, and I’ve traveled extensively. Very disappointing. The hostel has a decent location and the bar looked nice, but the “security” made the atmosphere very unpleasant. Good security should reassure all guests, not make them feel unwelcome. A hostel should be welcoming and provide good service, not treat their guests like this. Also the rooms could smell better and it would be nice if the curtains on the bed closed all the way. Some people also expressed concern over bed bugs.

  8. Confirmed Hostelworld

I walked in here and immediately felt that something was off, there was a terrible smell coming from the common area where a cocktail workshop was taking place, with plastic bags strewn across the floor. I checked google reviews and there were some from as recent as two weeks stating that there were bed bugs, that rooms had been broken into, that there were mice/rats. My room felt like a prison, with no privacy between beds. Lots of older men walking around. Not a vibe I felt safe in at all :(

  9. Confirmed Hostelworld

Dirty, bed bugs and loud roommates that woke me up at 5.00 am by turning on the main light. The beds aren't really clean, don't even get me started about the showers. Location is ok, close by metro and a nice canal. Staff is friendly. The sportsbar is a nice addition

  10. Confirmed Google Maps

The room is okay but very dirty. The blankets have yellow stains on them. In the drain of the sink plants are coming out. The toilets are very dirty with stains on them. You can't turn the heater down. The room was hot the whole time. And many reviews said there were bed bugs. Wouldn't recommend to anyone else

/ ! \ BED BUGS / !

First issue is BED BUGS! I woke up to over a dozen small red bite marks from being eaten alive during my sleep. The showers are cold and no way to adjust the temperature. Toilets don’t flush completely so there’s paper or feces at any given time. Bathroom was out of hand soap during my entire stay. And lastly, the dark skinned girl with curly hair at the front charged my card for the €2 key fee without my consent. She never explained the fee nor ask if I wanted to pay in cash. She just took it upon herself to charge my card. I only realized this after I received a cash refund for €2 at checkout. Furthermore, the heavyset girl and the “security guards” are overall very unpleasant. The entire demeanor of the staff is they are only there to do the bare minimum to receive a paycheck. Shameless and unscrupulous business.

    Got bedbugs

  14. Confirmed Hostelworld

This hostel is okay if you just want somewhere to sleep but nothing else. Be aware that it is super far from all main attractions (at least 30-50 min by metro) and in an area that is not safe for solo females after dark. Area is otherwise nice by the canal during the day. Absolutely no social aspect, the common area is depressing (& often closed) and the kitchen is a kettle and a microwave so you have to buy all meals out. I liked that all beds had curtains but I’m 99.9% certain I got bedbugs.

  15. Confirmed Hostelworld

The staff were rude and it made it difficult to put my bag in storage and to store your bag costs eight euros. There isn’t many events and it’s not really near all that much. I wouldn’t say it’s that social of a hostel. I’m pretty sure I also got bed bugs from there and there was someone else’s hair in my sheets. Showers are annoying as you have to click a button and they time out. Honestly, the worst hostel I’ve stayed in so far and I feel like I’m a pretty chill person too.

  16. Confirmed Hostelworld

Everything about this hostel was great EXCEPT for the fact that I woke up with bed bug bites over my face and neck 😭😭😭 Obviously this was very inconvenient and a little uncomforting however everything else was good about my stay. If you are looking to be a regular tourist like me and see all he main attractions, the only other fault would be that it is a far walk from the Eiffel Tower and Louvre, etc although the metro is super easy is Paris so that was very helpful. 7/10

    BEDBUGS !!!!

  18. Confirmed Hostelworld

I went during the Paris bedbug infestation, and there were no bedbugs !!! Very close to the metro, had some nice places to eat nearby, and only a 20min walk from Zénith (if you're going to a concert there like I was). Overall 10/10 would stay there again.

  19. Confirmed Booking.com

Comfy bed. Curtain really blocks out the world and gives plenty of privacy. NO BED BUGS!!! I checked thoroughly. Fun party atmosphere downstairs and great front desk staff and bar tenders. Very clean bathrooms.

  20. Confirmed Booking.com

It was hard to access the power points and some people had to stand to charge their phones. The lockers made so much noise when you tried to open them. Some toilets were clogged. The security however felt the need to ask me if I was a guest and to me that was shocker.

  21. Confirmed Hostelworld

This place definitely has bedbugs as of October 2023. Bad showers with broken soap dispensers. Laundry is kinda expensive but does work well. Hostel-run events are lame and show minimal effort. Not a terrible spot but I'll be looking elsewhere next time I'm in Paris

  22. Confirmed Hostelworld

    - This hostel has a great atmosphere, and is meant for travellers. It's also a party hostel, with tons of common areas to meet other travellers. - The bed was good, with a curtain, and the sheets were clean. - There are lockers and they fit my 55L Opsrey backpack with other bags. - The location is ok, located near the Piquet metro station, but not much around. - There is no guest kitchen, but the hostel has a restaurant/bar area. - I stayed during the bed bug crisis, and the hostel was still very clean and

  23. Confirmed Hostelworld

It was nice but I didn't like the social atmosphere even though there was a bar downstairs it just wasn't very inviting for solo travelers. Also, the location wasn't central at all but the metro wasn't far so you could get around ok. Someone in my room did find a bed bug in her bed so i would be careful and check.

  24. Confirmed Booking.com

I got bitten by bed bug so many part of body. It was so itchy. You should bring own sheet if you don’t want to be bitten by them.

  25. Confirmed Hostelworld

Clean Hostel with very nice facilities, however having no aircon made it very difficult to sleep. I also think I may have left there with bed bugs so make sure to check your sheets thoroughly. Location was very far away from all the sights, had to take the metro half an hour every time to leave which became a bit annoying. On the last night I stayed there was a massive party in the park across from the hostel which loudly ran all into the night. While I understand that this was not the hostels fault, du

  26. Possible Google Maps

Frühstück in meinen Augen miserabel (dreckige Teller, etc.). Ist allerdings eine Weile her, ich war 2016 dort.

  28. Confirmed Google Maps

Had I written this review after my first night, it would have been 5 stars, however after my third night I woke up with bug bites all over my legs. I certainly was not spending time in the woods where I could have gotten bit by something else so the only logical conclusion I've come up with is bed bugs (yikes). Fingers crossed that i didn't bring any home. Some other notes: -The breakfast is pretty good -The bar has good food -The showers are pretty gross (shower shoes are a must) -a large majority of my roommates were inconsiderate. Some were fighting in the room at 4am, doors were constantly slamming, and someone put a pile of things all around my ladder making it difficult to get in bed -book online (its cheaper and the breakfast is free that way) -very close to a metro It's probably not the worst hostel, but the possibility of bed bugs is very gross.

Vibe Analysis

St Christopher's Inn Paris - Canal is a large, budget-leaning Paris base near transit and the canal. The location and price are the main draw, and the bar/lobby setup can work if you want something busy rather than intimate. The building is under strain. Hot dorms without AC, broken or awkward facilities, paid storage, limited kitchen options, and cleanliness problems show up as practical tradeoffs. It can suit a short, price-sensitive stay where you are out most of the day, but it is not a cozy social hideout. Light sleepers and summer travelers should be especially careful. Bar noise can carry late, some room doors and lockers sound unreliable, and the access flow can be annoying if staff ask for a key card plus paper proof every time you enter. Book it for cheap Paris logistics, not for calm sleep or polished hostel design.
