Avoid This Hostel – Bed Bug Infestation I stayed at this hostel and left absolutely covered in bed bug bites—around 100 of them. It wasn’t just a minor issue; it was a full-blown infestation. Despite showing clear evidence of the bites, the hostel refused any form of compensation or even a proper apology. If you value cleanliness, hygiene, and basic guest care, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere. Bed bugs are not just a nuisance—they can spread, ruin your belongings, and cause serious discomfort. The way this situation was handled (or rather, ignored) makes it clear that guest well-being is not a priority here.

BED BUGS. Good location, good atmosphere but if you want a good and clean sleep without getting devoured by bedbugs don’t stay here. We were VERY cool about the whole situation. I wasn’t even going to leave a review but then I noticed that I didn’t have the option to on the hostel world app. They made it so I couldn’t leave a review. Absolutely disgraceful. DONT STAY HERE.

BEDBUGS BEDBUGS BEDBUGS! The manager Julia is unprofessional and really rude, see her drinking almost every night I was there and making nasty comments. They have bedbugs in several rooms, I heard them talking about it, they even found them in the bathrooms, I had like 4 bites and was in room 2, had to wash all my clothes and bag. Definelty ONE TO AVOID!

Decent hostel with nice staff. Something going on every night to meet people. Unfortunately theres a bed bug issue in the hostel and they have been dismissing the problem.

Overall this hostel was good. The staff were so lovely, plenty of social activities and good facilities. Things to note: - When checking in you need to have €20 cash (or CZK equivalent) for a room key deposit - The lockers are small so have to leave your big backpack underneath the bunks - In the 6 bed dorm there was one fan and the room got really stuffy. The room faces onto a main street so if opening the window all you can hear is traffic - Unfortunately there were bed bugs in room 5

All the staff were so sweet and it was so easy to make friends as the hostel organised pub crawls and activities everyday. The only downside is the girl in the bunk next to me found bed bugs in her mattress, other than that perfect stay!

Great social hostel with daily activities — so easy to make friends! Unfortunately the bedding was grungy and there were bed bugs present.

Possible Hostelworld

Unfortunately I left covered in bed bug bites. Check the google reviews before you book! The age range was younger during summer break, so it felt like a college dorm and wasn't the best for sleeping. The staff were lovely and there are activities, so it's easy to meet people, although the whatsapp chat wasn't as well used as in other Onefam hostels - there were no updates on location during the activites so if you missed the start of the activity it wasn't really possible to join later.

Great social atmosphere, enjoyable stay, the best part was the BED BUGS. edit: it's a bit suspicious that after I made a review on hostel world that cites the google reviews being unfavorable (for citing bed bugs), there are suddenly several more reviews of this hostel popping up on google.

We stayed here for 3 nights and decided to stay for a 4th night because we had such a good time! Unfortunately, we noticed bed bugs in one of our beds (room 4, left side, bottom bunk near the door) and had to leave at like 5 am to sanitize our things. We asked for a refund for the 4th night we booked and the manager refused to give it to us without giving a proper reason why. After seeing a string of negative reviews on Google citing the exact thing, I encourage you to look elsewhere.

I stayed in a lot of hostels and this is the first one where the staff is incredibly rude with guests. They didn’t even let me get my luggage into the room until I payed them. Then at my check in, they didn’t told me any info about the free dinner, the check out time, the activities or not even the code for opening the door. Also be careful because apparently there are bed bugs here (check other reviews there are even pics)

BED BUGS !!!! HOSTEL HAS A BEDBUG INFESTATION !!! Serious problem is being completely ignored… the concept behind this hostel is great but when you have a BEDBUG INFESTATION which is being ignored for more then a year as i see reviews mention it since then, well then all the other stuff goes out the window…

Watch out for BED BUGS. I wasn’t planning on leaving a review because I had a fun time and the staff were friendly, but I feel this needs to be said. My last night, I found bed bugs in my room, and the they let me switch rooms which was nice, but exactly 5 minutes after I checked out and left, they canceled my Hostelworld booking. There wasn’t a refund or anything, so presumably the only reason is to prevent me from leaving a bad review there. I was still in the group chat, so I sent a heads up about the bed bugs, and I was also immediately kicked. Having bed bugs is one thing, but trying to cover it up is just such a terrible look on a hostel that otherwise was really great. Seeing as there are reviews on google mentioning bed bugs going back 6 months, it seems they aren’t doing much about the issue.

BED BUGS & no money back My friends and I planned to stay 5 days in Prage in the beginning of February. When my friend woke up after the first night, she spotted a bed bug on the inside of the curtain from her bed. We immediately told the reception and told them an expert should come to check the room. Then one guy and a cleaning lady came, the guy told me that he „didn’t see any bed bugs“ but also said that „there are bed begs all around europe“, which implicated that he didn’t really care if there are bed bugs in the hostel/didn’t take our request serious. So he told me they would do a „deep clean“. I read some old comments and clearly the hostel has a problem with bed bugs as you can see in the reviews. The „deep clean“ of course had nothing to do with a deep clean, because you can only get rid of bed bugs when you call a professional pest control/exterminator. The guys that came to check the room weren’t professional exterminators. They offered us to stay in the other hostel from old town, but they also had reviews in google about bed bugs, so of course we didn’t go there. We left after one night and the girl at the reception promised that we would get the money back for the whole stay. After leaving, she texted me that she can’t do anything and we have to text the manager to get the money back. After texting the managers mail, they told us they cannot give us the money back, because we „refused“ to stay in the other hostel. Of course we did, because there are bed bugs as well. So we never got the money back. All in all: they do not take bed bugs seriously. They definitely should, because when you take them home, the problem goes on. They promised us a refund, which we never got and the vacation was stressful and expensive since we are students and had to pay double in order to stay somewhere in Prague without bed bugs. Very dissappointing. My recommendation to the hostel: please hire a professional exterminator!! BED BUGS are a BIG problem. You can get rid of them if you draw the right consequences but don’t ignore the problem !!!

I'd like to preface this review by saying that I've stayed at previous OneFam hostels and have absolutely loved it which is why I decided to choose this hostel for my stay in Prague. But my experience with the hostel and one particular staff member was incredibly disappointing. I had booked a five night stay checking in on 27 October and checking out on 1 November. On 28 October in Room 6 (14 bed mixed dorm) I discovered a bed bug on my bed. I realised it was indeed a bed bug after I squished it between my fingers and blood exploded from the bug. After discussing with the front staff, there were no alternative beds to move to in either OneFam Old Town or Home so I had to book at another hostel for my four remaining nights in Prague. I requested a refund after speaking to the front desk but was asked to send through an email through which I did on 29 October and again on 3 November with no response as of the writing of this review. Despite not receiving a refund and still being a paying guest, I was also denied entry to the hostel to socialise with the people I'd met at the hostel earlier during my stay. Not only was this incredibly humiliating in front of many other guests but the way I was treated by one particular staff member was just flat out rude. I'd like to also raise that (1) this was only my second day when I discovered the bed bug and (2) many travel friends I had met over the course of my trip we're staying at this hostel too so I had no incentive to move elsewhere nor did I want to if it weren't for the bed bug. I never usually write negative reviews but please book elsewhere if you can.

Avoid at all cost, this place is infested by bed bugs and they don't take the issue seriously. A guy from another room got multiple bites and was allergic just like me, he raised the issue before me. Then same thing happened to me, I showed the bites that I had on my entire body explaining that I got exact same allergic reactions only once in my life when I had bed bugs in my place a few years back. After I saw that another girl from the room had many of bites too. After leaving Prague I learned that they did not let other people in the room know, which means they can bring those in their luggage back to their homes. It is more than likely that they didn't treat the room either. Very unprofessional management. The rest about the hostel was good but I cannot give more than one star because of this. They deleted my booking and the one of the other guy from Hostelworld so we cannot leave a review, so really know what they are doing. Save yourself and go to another place! Just a friend's advice!

Vibe Analysis
Onefam Oldtown is a central hostel in Prague’s old town, close to trams, restaurants, and major sights. It has a social setup with shared dinners, evening activities, and a common area that feels cozy and busy rather than formal. The rooms are usually clean, and the showers are often a strong point. Some dorms have privacy curtains and air conditioning, and the kitchen and living space can make it easy to spend time with others. It feels lively without being nonstop party-focused. Expect a place that works best if you want company, a set plan for the evening, and an easy base in the center of town.
Signals to check

- Some beds and furnishings feel old or worn.
- Wi-Fi, lockers, and bathroom capacity can be limited.
- Cash handling and extra deposits can be inconvenient.
- Bed bugs have been a problem in some rooms.
