Full-size dorm beds are the signature move here: wide, comfy bunks with privacy curtains, plugs, lights, shelves, lockers, strong AC, and in some rooms a straight-up ocean view from bed. Lagarza feels more like a quiet beach hotel than a classic backpacker hive. The draw is the hillside setting, infinity-style pool over the Pacific, hammocks, green gardens, cocktails, and quick access to a sandy, almost-private cove. Breakfast is included and the restaurant can be genuinely good, with tacos, pupusas, pad Thai, drinks, and big portions landing as wins. This is a recharge base, not a chaos lab. Surf lessons, boogie boards, bonfires, pupusa-making, happy hour, yoga mats, and the resident dog Pitufo add little sparks, but the default mode is sun, pool, beach, book, nap, repeat. Staff can be very warm and helpful, though the service mood seems less consistent than the scenery.
