I got stuck between avalanches- road closures- I didn’t make it to Fernie. I asked if I could use that fare or them to reimburse me. They said I should’ve canceled 2 days prior. How would I cancel in advance if I was not planning on canceling. I was going to comeback with friends. Forget about that. Make yourself a favour- find 2-3 travellers and book yourself an airbnb - we did that, won’t have to deal with this bs, or possible bedbugs.

Raging Elk Adventure Lodging is a real hostel in central Fernie, with an attached bar, patio, pool tables, karaoke, live music, and a big communal kitchen. It suits a social Fernie trip better than a quiet hotel mindset. The pod dorm setup can feel more private than a standard bunk room, with curtains, lights, fans, and lockbox space in the bed area. The basement hangout space, board games, ski rack, bike storage, and sauna after 4 PM give it a useful mountain-town rhythm, especially around ski days. The tradeoff is noise, heat, and rough edges. The bar can get loud late, rooms may be warm without air conditioning, and parts of the building feel dated or in need of a deeper refresh.
