Cleanliness throughout is a standout, and rooms stay warm with central heating plus a wood fire in the lounge. Beds have reading lights and charging ports. There is a gym, a TV and gaming room (including video games, darts, and pool), and a sauna and spa that cost a small extra fee to use. Some travelers have even been taken out fishing or driven to trailheads by the family who run it. The owners, Patrick and Jacinda, are often warm and helpful, going out of their way with rides, recommendations, and small gestures. But this is not consistent: a real thread of stays describe the owner as rude, grumpy, or hostile, sometimes around booking mix-ups and especially toward people arriving in vans or non-guests asking about facilities.
