  2. Confirmed Booking.com

Not clean bed bugs in your bed , under the covers . Dead insects in the shower. The bed bugs where shocking and disgusting.

Vibe Analysis

This is a student residence right next to Parc de la Ciutadella, a short walk from the Arc de Triomf and the Marina and Ciutadella metro stops, with trams and buses close by and the beach within reach. The location is the strongest thing going for it, and the front desk runs 24 hours with staff who tend to be friendly and helpful. Rooms are studio-style and very basic: a single or twin setup, a small wardrobe and bedside table, and a kitchenette built into the room. The one thing to understand before booking in summer: most rooms have no air conditioning, only a fan, and the heat indoors becomes brutal. Room temperatures climbing to 30°C and beyond are common, sometimes hotter inside than out, and many find it nearly impossible to sleep. The fans provided are often old, weak, or noisy, and asking for a second one rarely fixes it. Some rooms do have AC, and listings can show an AC icon that does not match the actual room, so confirm directly that the specific room is air conditioned. Opening the window trades heat for street noise, and the walls are thin enough that conversations, doors, and neighbors carry through the building, with little sleep possible past around 8am. The in-room kitchenette is handy in theory but tends to be sparsely equipped, often missing basic utensils, pots, dish soap, or a hairdryer, so plan to buy what you need. Daily cleaning is offered, though in practice it can be inconsistent, sometimes skipped for the whole stay, or limited to making the bed. Bathrooms are small, old, and sometimes show mold, stains, low water pressure, or a broken shower head, and a few rooms have slippery floors or a high tub that is awkward to step into. Rooms run small, especially for two people or a family, and the look can be plain and worn rather than the brighter photos shown when booking. There is no real breakfast, despite some listings suggesting otherwise. The elevators are slow, small, and cramped. Pricing is a recurring frustration: the value feels poor for what you pay, and there are repeated disputes over surprise charges at check-in, the tourist tax, and partial refunds that were promised but not delivered.
