Great staff and location, but unfortunately there were bed bugs in April 2026. I hesitated to leave this review because the staff was so kind and accommodating when we pointed out the bed bugs, but I would want other travelers to tell me before I booked.

We stayed 3 nights. Night 1 insufferably hot and had to ask for air conditioning to be put on both additional nights. Man at the bar/reception was very rude and yelled at my friend when she accidentally gave the wrong room number and came back down to admit mistake. Also there were bed bugs as we were bitten in the night (not from mosquitoes as windows need to be shut for aircon to run). Limited kitchen/bathroom facilities for large number of guests, very chaotic. Only good thing was location.

Vibe Analysis
The downstairs pub is the social engine here: cheap drinks, darts, card games, foosball, and an easy setup for finding hiking buddies or lake plans. The vibe can be warm, chatty, and backpacker-heavy, especially in the bar and kitchen. The location is a major win, with Lake Bled, the main bus stop, a supermarket, restaurants, and nearby trip options all within a short walk. Staff are a real strength too, with practical local advice for buses, hikes, day plans, and how to use the area well. Facilities are simple but useful: a shared kitchen, lockers with keys, laundry that may be free, luggage storage, and some rooms with AC. Cleanliness lands well in a lot of recent stays, though the building can feel basic, worn, or cramped depending on the room.
Signals to check
- Dorms and kitchens can feel tight when the hostel is busy.
- Bathrooms can be limited, with waits at peak times.
- Not every bed has curtains, shelves, hooks, or strong privacy.
- Some lockers may be too small for full backpacks.
- Room temperature can be uneven, with hot rooms in warmer weather and cold or damp rooms in winter.
- Bed bug issues may be a risk; confirm current treatment status before booking.
