The vibe is warm, hands-on, and unusually social for China. Rooms are simple rather than polished. Beds can be comfortable, some dorms have curtains, hooks, air conditioning, and clean sheets, and private rooms can be spacious. The common area has a bar, affordable drinks, breakfast, laundry, dryer access, guitars, board games, cats, kittens, and a dog, so downtime has an actual backpacker-house feel. The location works well for Guilin exploring: close to Seven Star Park, the river, cheap local food, street snacks, restaurants, markets, and the university area. The city center is walkable for many routes, though train and bus stations are not especially close.
