Guest report Hostelworld
Stayed in a bedbug infested private room. Had many bites the first night, the second night we found bugs at various life stages on the bed and walls. Management moved us to a different room that night. The next day, they only offered to do our laundry. We spent an entire day ensuring no bugs/eggs survived on/in our bags. We felt this didn't address the underlying issue. They claimed it was from the previous guest, but was clearly an infestation. No compensation was offered.
Vibe Analysis
The Loft Hostel Budapest is a small, central hostel on the top floor of an old apartment building. It has a calm, cosy feel and is clearly set up for a more intimate, home-like stay rather than a loud night-out scene. The common room, kitchen, and lounge give it a social setup that makes it easy to meet other travellers, while still leaving room to relax. Staff are consistently warm and helpful, and the hostel seems especially strong on local tips, practical help at check-in, and small extras like towels, flip flops, toiletries, tea, coffee, and laundry. The location is a major strength: it is close to the river, central market, bars, restaurants, and public transport, with much of central Budapest within easy reach. It works well as a quiet base with a friendly atmosphere and a straightforward way to connect with others.
Signals to check
- It can get very hot in warm weather, and there is no air conditioning.
- Bathroom capacity is limited, so waits can happen at busy times.
