Dorms are clean and modern, with comfortable bunks, privacy curtains, lockers, charging points, and air con in at least some rooms. Bathrooms are kept very clean, and the whole place has a cared-for, freshly renovated feel. The kitchen is a real plus, with space to cook, a fridge, free coffee, tea, cereal, fruit, and useful little extras. The staff shape a lot of the stay: friendly, helpful, good for local food and city tips, and comfortable to talk with. The atmosphere is social but not only party-focused, with room for reading, working, cooking, sharing drinks, or meeting people in a low-pressure way. It works well for solo travelers who want a warm base in central Athens. Baloo is central and walkable to metro stops, the old town, and major sights, but the immediate area is rough around the edges. Inside the gate, the hostel feels calm, clean, and welcoming; outside, the neighborhood can feel uncomfortable, especially after dark.
