Columbus Rooftop Hostels

I stayed here for three nights as a solo traveler for a weekend trip. The volunteer staff were kind and welcoming, the facilities were kept pretty clean, and the rooftop was a very nice place to spend time. There are I think 8 rooms of people, including the volunteers’ room, 4 bathrooms, and I believe 5 showers. I didn’t have to wait in line for the bathroom or shower because people were getting ready to leave or go to bed at pretty different times. I would definitely recommend earplugs and a sleep eye mask because the lights are automatic in the hallway so they are always on when someone is entering the room at night. I was on the top bunk of a three-person bunk, and I was in the Atlas room, with 6 people total. I see some reviews mentioning bed bugs, but I didn’t have that experience. They either took care of that issue, or they just weren’t in my room lol. Didn’t hear anyone from other rooms complaining about it either, though. Every Friday night they do a family style dinner for 4 euros, and I didn’t get there in time but people seemed to like it. The staff does planned outings to the beach or things like that. Pretty great experience overall. I did see a small cockroach in the kitchen, but it’s a lot of people using one kitchen and not everyone is going to leave it spotless, so I don’t really hold that against them. I think roaches are pretty common on the island anyway. I would definitely stay again if I were in Las Palmas.

There is bed bugs and roaches in this hostel. Ask A.I if in doubt!

Beware Bedbugs...

This was by far the worst hostel.Bed bugs in the room and the shared bathrooms were not clean, the daily clean was a quick wipe with a mop. Our main issue was with the staff there was nobody in charge. On our second night's stay there was partying until 1 am, although it was advertised no noise after 11. When we complained we got the cold shoulder from staff for the rest of our stay.

Des punaises de lit en chambre individuelle... Pas top ! Établissement à la propreté douteuse. Certes, l'équipe est plutôt sympathique. Mais si j'avais su pour les punaises de lit notamment, jamais je n'y aurais réservé 5 nuits d'affilée... Je m'en suis d'ailleurs échappée pour ma dernière nuit, et j'ai bien fait ! 🙂

Bed bugs, bad customer service, toilets and showers need to be repaired, dirty rooms, dirty bed sheets, no privacy at all, doesn't really look like in the description, some stuff members are really rude for no reason. Stayed 10 nights and never got my room cleaned or my bed sheets changed, had to ask for it and couple times I've been told they don't have any spare bed sheets or any spare duvets. Paid deposit for my pad lock but when I left I couldn't get my deposit back as there was no one in the morning to help me check out. (8am). Overall, the place is noisy, dirty and full of bed bug. I totally not recommend this place.

Bed bugs. Lots of them.

I just got back from holiday and it was my first and my last time I ever used hostel, it absolutely ruined my holidays physically and mentally, it traumatised me from ever using hostels again or even going back to this island. Hostel is full of bed bugs and I don't even know what other kind of species. My whole body, face, legs, covered in bites, I have sensitive skin so that lead to infection, swallows, liquid coming out of bites, which now I am going to sort out since I just got back to UK. Absolutely discusting, stay away from this kind of places, the place is full of alcoholics and junkies, rather pay 1k-2k but have decent experience and healthy. Los voluntarios fueron los que hicieron que mi estadía fuera muyy buena, pero en cuanto a las instalaciones, y la limpieza, el hostel es un desastre. Me picaron chinches por todo el cuerpo, me tuvieron que cambiar tres veces de cama ya que cada mañana me despertaba con nuevas picaduras. La cocina esta poco equipada, le faltan varias cosas, y no hay suficientes baños y duchas para todos. Lo único que rescato es el ambiente y la buena onda de los que trabajan allí.

Hostel with great potential - good facilities and social vibe - but not achieving it. I left early for reasons of personal preference, but later discovered I'd been bitten by bed bugs during my stay. Another in my room left early because of bed bugs. Messaged hostel about them but no response, felt like they didn't care as long as they had my payment. Would only recommend if future reviews show a significant improvement.

Bed bugs and terrible facilities - avoid if you can!!

They seriously need to step up their game when it comes to cleanliness. If they don't take this seriously soon the entire place will be infested by cockroaches and bedbugs.
