The Backpacker Hostel & Spa
Organized socials run at the hostel, but rooms are repeatedly cramped and mouldy; bathrooms can be rusty and facilities dirty.

Vibe Analysis
The Backpacker Hostel & Spa has the bones of a young social hostel: organized socials, a rooftop/bar idea, shuttle help, friendly staff, and a location that can still reach restaurants, shops, and the beach zone with some effort. It may work if you mainly want cheap-ish Da Nang energy and can tolerate chaos. The catch is that the recent signal is very warning-heavy. Rooms are repeatedly called tiny, damp, mouldy, cramped, and different from the photos; the location is often treated as inconvenient; the pool, bikes, rooftop food, and bathrooms do not consistently match the pitch. This is a high-variance pick for the “I just need a bed and maybe some people around” lane. The social calendar may save it for some travellers, but the maintenance issues are too loud to ignore.
Signals to check
- Mould, damp rooms, rusty bathrooms, and dirty facilities are recurring problems.
- There is a serious bedbug and unsanitary-room warning.
- The location can feel far from the main action, so taxis or shuttles may become part of the stay.
