Koala Hostel Puno is a simple, central base close to the main square, restaurants, tour streets, the dock and the bus station. The strongest parts are practical: friendly staff, 24-hour reception, help with buses and lake trips, luggage storage at times, free hot drinks, a usable kitchen, a pool table, hot showers, thick blankets and breakfast that often includes pancakes. The atmosphere is more chilled than chaotic. It can be social around common areas and tours, but it is not a full-throttle party hostel, and the building itself is plain, old in places, and sometimes awkward. This is best for a short Puno stay where the plan is Lake Titicaca, breakfast, a shower, and a staff team that can help sort the next move.
