Why this surfaced
Repeated, deduplicated traveler-review reports matched these incident categories:
One report can match more than one category. Counts describe review reports, not independently verified incidents.
These are reports in traveler reviews, not independently verified incidents. Duplicate review text and strong repeat-reviewer identities count once.
Category matches are automated. Relevant passages are exact review quotes selected from concrete incident wording, not hidden model rationales. If none appears, treat the match as suspect and check the full review.

people having sex in the hostel room during the night (there are no curtains on the bed so you are subjected to everything)

I had a 10 bedroom dorm (which was fully booked) and I could not sleep one night because people were so loud during the night for example: playing music on the balcony at 1:00 AM, walking into the room and turning the light on and leaving it on, going into the bathroom that is connected to the room and puking, coughing or cleaning the dishes (dishes with food that of course attracted insects)in the bathroom sink without closing the door, people having sex in the hostel room during the night (there are no curtains on the bed so you are subjected to everything), having random people come into

Full reviewThis is going to be a long review so I'm just gonna start with the positive aspects. The hostel location is very nice it's right in the town centre and you can reach everything in just a few minutes. The Hostel itself is mostly clean and the staff at the front desk are really helpful and friendly. Coming to the negative aspects. The hostel is a social/party hostel which in itself is not bad if that is your thing. Just be aware that it's never really quiet. The main problem I had during my stay were the people. I had a 10 bedroom dorm (which was fully booked) and I could not sleep one night because people were so loud during the night for example: playing music on the balcony at 1:00 AM, walking into the room and turning the light on and leaving it on, going into the bathroom that is connected to the room and puking, coughing or cleaning the dishes (dishes with food that of course attracted insects)in the bathroom sink without closing the door, people having sex in the hostel room during the night (there are no curtains on the bed so you are subjected to everything), having random people come into the room and stay the night, people slamming doors in the building and constantly screaming during night. The hostel kitchen was really dirty and you had to constantly wash the dishes before using them because no one cleaned their dishes properly or left them soaking wet and just put them on the shelf (they have signs there telling you do clean after yourself but everyone just ignored them). A lot of the ovens also didn't work which made baking stuff very difficult because the ones that did work were in constant use. What also happened a couple of times is that food got stolen out of the boxes that are used to store your food which is really annoying and disrespectful. Needless to say I did not enjoy my stay at this hostel and would not recommend it to anyone who needs to rest sometimes because you won't get any.

From going through lockers & personal items during cleanup, making passive aggressive comments towards occupants, she has even insulted a fellow roommate to the point of making her cry.

Full reviewHostel itself is lovely, rooms are good and most of the staff are lovely. However, the manager has made life incredibly difficult here. From going through lockers & personal items during cleanup, making passive aggressive comments towards occupants, she has even insulted a fellow roommate to the point of making her cry. The environment around the hostel with the manger is hostile. If a problem ever comes up with our room, it feels difficult to raise the issue without the risk of being talked to condescendingly. A lot of long term guests have been leaving in the last couple weeks, and whilst correlation doesn’t equal causation, I can’t help but wonder if the returning manager takes pleasure in making people miserable, to the point of making them not want to return.

got harassed by a member of staff for asking where the microwave was and got threatened to get kicked out of the hostel for being aggressive

Full reviewFirst of all once I arrived I turned up to an underground car park and then I went in the kitchen and got harassed by a member of staff for asking where the microwave was and got threatened to get kicked out of the hostel for being aggressive and the worst part was the clicky atmosphere loud and disrespectful German lads who caused a lot of disruption. This is honestly the worst Hostel I’ve stayed in Australia it’ll be more use being a car park for the centre instead of being a hostel. And in the store room they were smashed plates all over the floor

Vibe Analysis
Party-resort energy with a split reaction: the scene can work, but discrimination, noise, and staffing can feel off.
Signals to check
- Discrimination against non-UK residents is a one-off serious risk.
- A pool party created major noise during one stay.
