Bed bugs, do not go! The place was really nice and the staff was super helpful, but it seems the management just gave up on this chronic and severe infestation. 😞🪳

There were bedbugs and allthough the Staff knew about it they didn’t inform/reimburse us. Well handled. If this problem is taken care of this would be a nice place to stay.

Possible Hostelworld

Nice friendly staff at the hostel and facilities were fine. Not much of an atmosphere where I was there, typically attracting older travellers who kept to themselves. The main issue with my stay - as seen on some other recent reviews - is that I left with several bites over my body, likely from bed bugs. Also, the location is nicely situated for ease of access to many parts of the city either by foot or nearby transport links, however, the area can feel a little dodgy at night and some may not feel comfortable coming back late, particularly by themselves.

I stayed 3 days in 6 beds room on July. At the first night, there were 3 bed bugs in the blanket. 3 BED BUGS.. Since it was late at night, I couldn't take pics. I told the staff and they changed my room to 2 beds room saying "You're lucky to sleep alone". Except for that, everything was great.

Vibe Analysis
Slo Lyon Saxe is a small city hostel that can work as a short Lyon base if you care more about staff, price, and access than sleep quality or a big social scene. The better version is friendly reception, a useful location for getting around, and a place that is decent enough for a couple nights. Do not expect a strong backpacker engine. The atmosphere reads more practical than social, with cramped sleeping areas, limited bathrooms, and common spaces that can feel too small when the hostel is busy. It is more "get around Lyon and crash" than "arrive and instantly find your crew." The main warnings are hard to ignore: the surrounding area may feel uncomfortable, especially for solo women and night arrivals, and the building has recurring issues with noise, hot rooms, small dorms, and bathroom cleanliness. Better for independent travelers who already know their tolerance for rough city-hostel edges.
Signals to check

- Dorms and rooms can feel cramped, hot, and noisy.
- Bathrooms can be too few or not clean enough when the hostel is busy.
