The Cool Hostel
Vibe Analysis
A direct exit to the beach and costanera is the main flex at The Cool Hostel. The location puts Peñuelas, Casino Enjoy, bars, restaurants, and the waterfront within easy walking range, so the place works best for a beach-and-food base with nightlife nearby. The setup has social spaces that can feel comfortable and relaxed, including upstairs common areas, hammocks, balconies with sea views, and a pool area. Food is easy: Casa Magnolia and other restaurant options sit right by the hostel, and at least some rooms or apartments include kitchen facilities. Comfort is mixed. Beds are often comfortable, and there are bright moments with warm staff, helpful hosts like Cristina or Anderson, parking, pet-friendly treatment, and even a surfing lesson arranged through the hostel. The flip side is real: cleanliness, kitchen equipment, maintenance, privacy, reception coverage, and room layout can be inconsistent.
Signals to check
- Weekend noise can be an issue because nearby bars, restaurants, or club music may run late.
- Bathrooms and showers may be limited or awkwardly placed for certain rooms, with hot water access varying by setup.
- Extra charges may apply for luggage storage or using common spaces after checkout.
- Some rooms or apartments may have maintenance problems, weak privacy, poor curtains, cold winter conditions, intermittent Wi-Fi, or missing basics like a hair dryer.
