Meramees Hostel

We really liked this hostel. We booked a 3-bed room with ensuite for 3 nights and it was clean and the beds were great. The breakfast was large and delicious. Unfortunately many mosquitos got into our room somehow and every day we woke up with more bug bites!

Got bitten by bed bugs on the first night. Clearly had bites in my body. I had paid for two nights and asked for a refund of the 2nd night. They only gave me 25% back… They didn’t care that there was bed bugs, so I imagine they are doing nothing about it.

Warning bed bugs!!! Very disappointed with our experience at Meramees. We went to bed and felt itchy. Wasn’t really anything we could do about it as it was late. The next day we noticed we had bed bug bites on our legs and arms. We definitely did not want to sleep another night in the room. We asked the owner for a refund. He said it wasn’t his problem and that we must of got them from the museum?!?! We are seasoned travellers who understand what bed bugs look like and how they operate. Extremely disappointed that the owner wouldn’t take responsibility for the problem. He offered us a 25% discount for our second night. This is not good enough as it has been a huge inconvenience to us. As we had to find accommodation last minute and essentially pay for nearly two nights! Judging by his lack of accountability, I doubt he’ll do anything to fix the problem.
