Bed bug reports

Possible Google Maps
Do not come here! The rooms are dirty and musty. The furnitures are in bad condition. The window and the door in the room cannot be closed, which is really disturbing because of the noises outside during the night. There were also bugs in the beds that stung us. The owners are quite disorganised and one of them was really drunk. He was holding a beer the whole time and could barely walk down the stairs. The only good thing was the convenient location, but I would've rather paid 5€ more for a better accommodation, because it was really difficult to sleep here.

DO NOT GO HERE! These will be the very first words of a lenghty review mentioning all the inconviniences we suffered there. You get into bologna, you would expect something of a motel facity or something. Well, it is a private house and a private home built centuries ago with the only renovations made by painting the ugly walls. Random furniture is lying everywhere, often times half broken. You can guess they got it for free when someone threw it out. Now that you are quite disappointed with the first impression, you head to your coeducated room in the apartment. The room is in fact not a room, they use a 3 cm thick wooden wall as a space divider to seperate off areas, instead of a normal door they made a sliding door in that thin wall. When you try to close it, first you realise the doorhandle is broken half off, then you try to move the door with other techniques, only to discover it is stuck. Nice. We have a hostel with 2 6 man rooms with no doors. We also werent offered a safe or any lockable thing just in case (although a different guy was later on, but the hostess didnt even mention it to us) Back to the part where there is no thing to lock your belongings in. Apparently thats not the only thing you cannot lock in this house. When you try to close the 1 street facing window, because 1) italy is hot 2) its noisy outside you came to realise you CANNOT CLOSE THE WINDOW. It has no proper lock mechanism. Only an oldschool metal lock that is so tightly locking that there is a 3-4 cm gap between the window and the frame (hard to explain, look at attachments) Okay you cannot close the window, what wring can happen. Apparently in italy they clean their streets at night. From 11 pm till 2:30 am there was a running truck parked in front of the building, while someone used a HIGH PRESSURE WASHER to clean streets (yes at 2 am), once they finished we just could not sleep cuz the neighborhood is noisy anyways and window is still open. Furnitures no2. the bed was broken and amateurly stitched back together so practically nothing is holding it. Every furniture is so worn down it is way past normal standards. Finally customer service; we arrived a 3:10 instead of 4, so we checked in but were told that we need to wait until 4 so that the 'cleaner' cleans the rooms. Welp, apparently the husband from the owners is the cleaner, he arrived barely before 4 with a beer in his hand stinking of alcohol. My friends went out but i managed to whitness what he did in the following hours. It took him 2 hours to change 3 bedsheets (ca 5-6 mins work), meanwhile he went back to his room zo do whatever. Literally nothing was cleaned. And I also doubt he changed my bedsheet as before he came i left one pillow in a certain weird postion, by the time i came back in 3-4 hours it was still in the same position. We were all stinged by bedbugs which is quite disgusting, considering they barely clean the bedsheets + the rooms havent seen a vacum cleaner in ages. Conclusion; it was a cheap accomodation, close to the central, but this can NOT be called a service. When measuring a good hotel, you give points for how many positive things you see. When rating a bad hotel, you check how many things did not satisfied you. This hotel betrayed my expectations in every single aspect. Day ruined. I mean if i dont want to sleep i dont need to pay 35 euros, i can just go to a train station and sit on a bench.

Place to avoid if you can. We had seen on hostelworld that we could arrive at 6pm, but arrived there, the lady informs us that the schedule has changed because "we are in summer". Also, we can't use the kitchen (convenient for a bed and breakfast), and the breakfast is composed of biscuits and tea, but we can't wash our cup 'cause we didn't have access to the kitchen ! The bathroom is ok. To obtain the keys, one must either give an identity card as a deposit or pay. They also have dogs whose presence is not indicated on the site (great for allergies!). We had a nice awakening thanks to one of the dogs who decided to put a nice poop in front of the entrance of our room at 7.30am ! Last thing, I had the joy of discovering "bed bugs" that gave me little pimples on the elbows, hands and thigh! Oh really nice place! I think my skin will remember it for 1 week! Other than that, it is pretty well located (close to city center and supermarkets). Oh, and the sheets are paying!

Vibe Analysis
Bologna Bed and Breakfast is a central, very basic crash pad near Bologna's historic core and university area. It can work for a short, budget-driven night if the main goal is a bed, a shower, and walking access to the city. This is closer to a private apartment with beds than a full hostel setup. The atmosphere can feel improvised: small shared rooms, limited shared space, and simple facilities rather than a social common-room scene. A microwave or kettle may be available, but a usable kitchen is not something to count on. Large dogs are part of the property experience. They can be calm and friendly, but dog smell, hair, barking, and animals moving through sleeping areas are recurring issues, so this is a bad fit for allergies, fear of dogs, or anyone wanting a neutral, hotel-like space. The strongest upside is location. The tradeoff is that comfort, cleanliness, check-in, security, and communication can be rough, so it suits only low-expectation, one-night survival mode more than a relaxed Bologna base.
Signals to check
- Strict and narrow check-in times can cause real problems, especially for late arrivals.
- The entrance can be hard to find and may not be clearly signed.
- No reliable breakfast setup, no dependable kitchen access, and limited basics such as lockers, towels, toilet paper, plugs, or hot water.
- Cleanliness is a serious risk, with repeated issues around dog hair, odor, bathrooms, bedding, insects, and general upkeep.
- Large dogs live or move around inside the property, including near sleeping areas.
- Noise, cold rooms, poor insulation, broken windows, no air conditioning, and weak lighting may affect sleep.
- Staff communication can be difficult, rude, or inconsistent, and extra charges or payment friction may happen.
- Room layout and bed assignments may not match expectations, and belongings may not feel secure.
