I really wanted to like this hostel but left pretty disappointed. I only stayed for one night - the bedsheet I was given smelled so bad before I even used it so I had to ask for a new one. I saw ants on the wall and on my bed and I was bitten all night making it nearly impossible to sleep. Also think I found a BED BUG DISGUSTING There’s no AC and the rooms get stuffy. The whole place feels pretty worn down which didn’t match the price. The Wi-Fi is called “Lost Boyz Perfect Wifi” but it very choppy and didn’t reach the room. Renting a towel is also $3 which is absurd for a hostel and feels exploitative (please do better!!) On the positive side the people around were friendly and it has a nice vibe in the common areas. Overall I left disappointed and wouldn’t stay again unless some updates are made especially with cleanliness, comfort, and Wi-Fi

A really fun and sociable hostel and definitely a highlight of our trip. Pool was great and short walk to the beach. Downside was that there were not many showers and toilets so had to queue sometimes. Also we had bed bug bites which we think we got from the hostel.

Vibe Analysis
The treehouse gives Lost Boyz a real hangout signature: a raised chill spot above a big garden, with the pool, bar, restaurant, and common areas doing most of the social heavy lifting below. The setting can feel jungly and spacious, with howler monkeys, mango trees, cats, strong playlists, and night lights adding personality without making the place feel polished-flat. This is a very social Santa Teresa base, especially for solo travelers who want instant orbit. Daily or near-daily activities may include beer pong, karaoke, yoga, breathwork, sip and paint, dance classes, beach sunsets, and family-style dinners, so the place works well when you want easy friend chemistry without forcing it. The location is central and practical: close to the main road, restaurants, markets, and a walk to the beach. Free breakfast is a regular plus, the Mexican food and cocktails land well, and there is a kitchen for cooking, though it is not the sleek-lab version of a kitchen. Remote-work setup can be workable in parts of the property, but it is not the main superpower here. Rooms are the tradeoff. Lost Boyz is strongest as a social, pool-and-garden hostel with a surf-town pulse; dorm comfort can be basic, hot, buggy, and short on plugs, curtains, hooks, or bathroom convenience. Pick it for the people-magnet layout and Santa Teresa energy, not for icy AC cocoon science.
