New Swedish Hostel puts the Old City first: David Street, the bazaar outside the door, Jaffa Gate nearby, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre about a two-minute walk away. It works best as a simple base where Jerusalem is the main event, with a bed, shower, clean basics, and easy access to the holy sites and market streets. The building has an old, spartan feel rather than modern polish. Some private rooms are tiny or windowless, bathrooms and showers are narrow, and walls may be thin, but the hostel often feels quiet at night despite the central location. Sami or Sameer gives the place much of its warmth: kind, responsive, and useful for city tips, directions, taxis, and practical help. A small kitchen setup may include tea, coffee, hot chocolate, drinking water, dates, a microwave, cookware, and basic shared facilities. WiFi can work well enough for remote work, and laundry may be available for a fee.
