Youth Hostel Punkl
Vibe Analysis
The all-wood building is the signature thing here: the place has a real mountain-wood smell through the rooms, which gives it a warmer, more distinctive feel than a standard stopover hostel. There is a large shared kitchen and dining area on the ground floor, with solid cooking facilities and a fridge there rather than in rooms. The common area works for chilling, and the hostel sits in a calm area with parking out front and access near a pool, ski area, and park. Staff can be friendly and practical, with Tim specifically standing out for helping with arrival and room access. Cleanliness looks like a strength, and the setup can suit a simple rest break on a longer trip. Keep expectations grounded: this can feel quiet or empty, some rooms are compact, and a four-bed room may feel crowded. The location may be a bit out of the way, depending on how you arrive.
Signals to check
- Dorms may not have lockers, and bathroom doors may not lock.
- Wi-Fi may only work in the ground-floor common area.
- Some basics can be inconsistent: bedding, pillows, towel size, soap, bedside surfaces, chairs, and TV function have all been weak spots.
- Showers may feel small, and rooms do not necessarily have a fridge or balcony.
