Twenty4 Hostel

Twenty4 Hostel is a basic, central Paramaribo base in a beautiful old wooden house, close to the old centre, restaurants, markets, nightlife, and city sights. It has the rare Suriname hostel thing going for it: a real backpacker setup in a city with very few hostel-style options. The small dorm setup is the most distinctive practical perk: three-bed rooms with single beds instead of bunks. That changes the feel from stacked-bed chaos to something calmer and more grown-up, while still keeping a backpacker basecamp mood. The hostel also has a lounge that can work for daytime laptop hours, plus couches, a backyard or garden area, a balcony with chairs and hammocks, a book exchange, and classic video games. Tours and transport may be arranged through the hostel, including city tours, bike tours, dolphin and plantation trips, and onward transport toward Guyana. There may also be breakfast, a shared kitchen, towels, room keys, night security, and work-exchange options, though practical details can vary. Rooms are uneven. Some are clean, tidy, comfortable, and equipped with AC or a private bathroom; others can be very hot, fan-only, noisy, cramped, poorly maintained, or different from the photos. The vibe is mixed too: it can be relaxed and social over chats and beers, but it can also feel more like a simple hotel than a hostel built around interaction.
