DO NOT STAY HERE This hostel is disgusting, the most unkept I’ve ever seen and I’ve stayed in many, including international. My girlfriend and I paid $410 to stay here for 3 nights, and on arrival there was a few issues such as the stair cases having no lighting, it was worrisome but nothing too alarming. On further inspection, we entered the hallway to be faced with hundreds of bugs in and around the kitchen. On top of that, we entered our room and were taken aback. Not only was it visibly filthy with dust and dirt, the window was left open with no fly screen, so we were greeted with a few critters. As per usual, I brought my sanitising wipes to do a quick rundown. Everything, and I mean everything, was disgusting. So much dirt and grime that lifted suprisingly easy - not sure if that’s a sign of “we didn’t clean it this time” or “we never bother”. The door knobs, counters, everything. Aside from that, there was a hole in the door, graffiti, mattresses with stains, no water, exposed metal, the curtains hung by zip ties.. The biggest problem though - the bugs, copious amounts of bugs that tried to make home in our suitcases. There was insufficient flooring in our room, so the bugs were literally coming through the floors, despite our best efforts to seal everything, it just wasn’t possible. I can’t explain how disgusting this place was, looking through naked eye, it may seem okay. But if you want to stay somewhere that you don’t get bed bug bites - I’d advice elsewhere. My girlfriend and I had the easter weekend off and we were really keen, only to be presented with this. I’m thoroughly disappointed that this place thought it was acceptable to give us this bug infested hole, please be warned and stay the F away. It was also very time consuming to get a refund, and when I did, it was for only one of the nights.

This hostel is extremely dirty and is known for bed bugs and really dirty and stained bedding. We felt dirty leaving this place and didn't want to touch anything. The staff there are extremely rude and unprofessional. Definitely do not go here

Terribly run hostel. Hostel manager refused to release mail, and ended up having to file a police report in order to get it back. Also forced several of us into hostel rooms that joe knowingly were infested with bed bugs. Verbally abused, and threatened guests who complained. Fragile male ego I guess 🤷

This hostel could be ok if the week cost 130$ (or less) but it cost 200$ which is a scam when you take in consideration the cleanliness, the fournitures condition, the size of the room ... The housekeeping is made maybe 1 time per week or every 2 weeks. I have massive bites on each part of my body while i was sleeping in the room 507, maybe bed bugs ? I don't really know. This is the only backpack in the area so they take profit of it. If I only put 1 star that's because the price is abusive for backpackers who wants to work in this area, I don't recommand it even if the people who's living there are lovely.

Cockroaches everywhere and bedbugs in the rooms. Don't go there, it is dirty everywhere. Never again !!

Vibe Analysis

Free surfboards are available, and that is one of Abode Mooloolaba’s clearest perks: it makes the beach-side location more useful than just being near the water. The hostel is a short walk from the beach, Sea Life, shops, food spots, and local bars, with parking also available. The social side can work well when the activities are running. Wine and cheese nights, sausage sizzles, yoga, trivia, BBQs, and pool-table time give the place an easy way to meet others, and the pool is a real bonus on hot Sunshine Coast days. Staff are often warm and hands-on, with Saab standing out as especially welcoming. Rooms range from clean private ensuite setups with aircon and comfortable beds to dorms that can feel lived-in, messy, or musty. The hostel has a chilled, small-scale backpacker feel rather than a polished motel feel, and it may suit beach days and casual social nights better than anyone expecting spotless facilities or late-night common areas.
