Bed bug reports

Bonjour, je déconseille cette hotel car lors de mon séjour j'ai eu quelques problèmes comme des punaises de lit pour même un prix très exorbitant et pour un service de mauvaise qualité. La seule chose qui est bien est emplacement...

Now I want to leave a completely fair review but as you can tell from the title we had a few issues with Hostel Mare Nostrum. The Pro's; Great location - couldn't be more central and an ok breakfast (if you could bag yourself a clean mug/plate and a table had been cleared) staff were almost helpful and being on level 4 we didn't get too much street noise from La Rambla. Cons; The first morning of our stay we noticed that the floor was wet, but not just a little wet it was coming up from beneath the floorboards and we thought maybe the in room shower had leaked, unfortunately because of the size of the room our suitcase was on the floor meaning some of our clothes had gotten wet (no big deal these things happen) as we left for breakfast we noticed a bucket and towels had been placed outside our room door due to a faulty air conditioning unit that was pouring water down the wall and putting 2 + 2 together had caused the flooding. Nobody had thought to check if our room was ok and when we mentioned it to staff (an older gentleman we believe to be the manager who was trying to fix the unit at the time and who we invited into our room to see the flooding as well as the receptionist on duty at the time) we were assured "we know, it will be fixed" absolutely no apology offered. We were then out for most of the day and when we returned the air con was indeed fixed, but we still had water coming up from the floorboards when we applied any sort of pressure. on our final morning before check-out myself and my husband noticed that we had both been bitten over the course of the last couple of nights (my legs and his arms absolutely covered) these weren't mosquito bites, we had the room window closed the whole time due to the noise from the nearby La Rambla and upon our return to the UK these were confirmed as bed bug bites, we both had to take antihistamines and it ruined the stay in all honesty. Since this we contacted the booking site and they have acted as middle men between us and the hotel - Hostel Mare Nostrum have denied that the flooding happened they are "talking to staff" to see if anyone remember anything (they want photo evidence) but funnily enough the photos that we did provide of our bed bug bites haven't been addressed - we've been completely denied any sort of reimbursement. Bluntly put £280 is a lot of money for a flooded room and bug bites. Buyer beware.
