Spring Hostel

We had a very great stay. Kitchen was nice, very nice patio, lovely staff who upgraded us to a better room. Also had towels included and good breakfast. Only negative point: we think there were some bedbugs.

Had an absolute nightmare staying here. Stayed with friends and our room had bed bugs, and when speaking to other guests they told us they had cockroaches in their rooms. When bringing this up with the staff as we wanted to leave the hostel early and wanted our money back, they got argumentative saying that they weren't going to refund us because "it was nobody's fault" and that "they had already tried getting rid of the bed bugs". After a lot of back and forth, we ended up getting the money back for our remaining nights. Additionally, the location is pretty terrible, and we were told off multiple times by the staff due to being "too loud" in common areas when in reality we were having low volume conversations. So, the four bed dorm which also happens to be room 4 has bed bugs. I’m positive they are in the very old wooden cabinet thing in the room, I awoke and found 5 bugs. Yikes. The management was nice about it saying they regularly fumigate and it’s hard to control because guests bring them in, but they really should update the furniture if they want a better solution to the problem. What’s even more pleasant than waking up to bed bugs? The girl working the front desk when I went to tell them apparently also sleeps in that dorm? She basically denied there was a problem (so I’m guessing maybe she brought them). I would guess she’s never worked in customer service because when I was trying to get a resolution (refund for the second night I was supposed to stay and move my stuff out of bed bug room) we were using google translate on my phone and she was LITERALLY open mouth coughing on my phone. I asked to wash my things to make sure they weren’t infested and she said she “can’t make decisions” so I would have to wait until morning. On top of all that I asked if it was ok to leave my bag in a corner of an unused room while I was waiting to check into my next hostel, to which they said yes, only to come back to all my things moved by the cleaner.

In addition to being away from the city's action, Spring Hostel had some awful sweaty and dark rooms. One friend found a cockroach in their locker on arrival and another was bitten severely with bedbugs (pictured). Staff were rude and reluctant to refund us for cutting our stay short after the bedbugs incident.
