One of my favourite hostels socially, the “magic table” really is amazing as it makes socialising so easy. There are also beers and cigarettes available for quite cheap. Staff were really lovely and pretty helpful when needed. Only thing that put me off a little was I had loads of tiny bugs in my bed and when I asked them to change the sheets they did but the bugs were still there (not bed bugs!), I didn’t have any effects from the bugs it was just unpleasant to sleep in. Beds comfy and big.

Definitely worth the stay, great staff the atmosphere was amazing. The patio table was a nice spot to get to know everyone. The only downside i had is that i found a bed bug on my last night there

Vibe Analysis
The front-yard table is the engine here: a simple place where cheap beers, pre-drinks, new plans, and Medellin nights start without much ceremony. Black Sheep works best for sociable backpackers who want an easy crew, not a polished mega-hostel scene. The hostel sits in a quieter Patio Bonito pocket of El Poblado, with the metro, supermarket, cafes, restaurants, and nightlife within reach. Common areas include indoor lounges, patios, balconies, hammocks, and a kitchen that is usually a real asset for cooking. Staff help with tips, tours, luggage storage, and general Medellin logistics, and the place often feels small enough that conversation happens naturally. Rooms split the personality a bit. Private rooms can be clean, spacious, and quiet enough to step away from the buzz, while dorms near the entrance, kitchen, or basement can feel loud, warm, stuffy, or short on privacy. This is more social than serene, with enough party gravity to be fun when that is the mission and annoying when sleep is the mission.
