KASONA DEL INKA

KASONA DEL INKA is a practical Aguas Calientes base on a busy central street with restaurants, shops, bars, the train station, buses for Machu Picchu, and the thermal baths within easy reach. It fits best as a simple pre- or post-Machu Picchu stop rather than a polished hangout hostel. Early breakfast is one of its clearest strengths: it may start around 5am or be prepared early for Machu Picchu departures, with fruit, eggs, bread, cheese, juice, and simple buffet-style options depending on the day. The staff can be a real plus, with Liz, Daniel, and Delia standing out for help with local tips, route advice, breakfast care, luggage storage, and flexible support. Rooms are basic but can be comfortable, with large beds, warm bedding, hot showers, good water pressure, and occasional extras like a fridge. Cleanliness is inconsistent, though: plenty of rooms feel clean and comfortable, while others have had dust, hair, stained linens, dirty common areas, mold smell, bathroom odor, or poor ventilation. The tradeoff is noise and humidity. Street-facing rooms can catch late music, early tour groups, corridor noise, and thin-window sound, while internal-window rooms may feel stuffy or lack privacy. Hot water and Wi-Fi can also be uneven, and higher-floor rooms may mean a serious stair climb with no elevator.
